Forming Disciples Fully Alive In Christ Jesus The Catholic Discipleship College offers a radical way of life centred on the Word of God and the Holy Eucharist.
CDC students study theology, philosophy and scripture under world class teachers. CDC is a nine month, live-in experience, awakening and transforming the mind and heart.
Good Morning,
If you would like a PDF donation receipt for the last financial year, please email me at [email protected]
As you know, we have been in the process of selling the building as well as Covid-19 making things complicated as well. The office does not currently have access to a printer, but will soon, so if you are after a printed receipt, hang tight!
God Bless,
Sarah

Dear CDC Supporters,
It has been a while since our last newsletter update so the Board of Trustees would like to let you know what has been happening at the College.
Last year, we advised that we had made an arrangement for a short-term rental of the premises to the Xavier Project. Regretfully, due to immigration issues, this plan was not able to proceed. This was such a disappointment as we already had the three Catholic leaders in residence and rooms prepared for the arrival of their students.
We are now planning a new direction for the College. Having been unable to find a suitable candidate for the Household Formation Leader role for 2020, the program could not go ahead this year in the form that it has previously.
It has therefore been the decision of the Board of Trustees to sell the Pukekohe property by a tender process that is happening right now. This is a fiscal decision to realise the value of this asset to the Trust, pay off the mortgage and reduce the overhead expenses involved in maintaining it when alternative uses and incomes from it have not been forthcoming. It is expected that proceeds will be invested to supplement the Trust’s annual income, ultimately enabling funds to be used more productively.
So, where have your donations been going? While there hasn’t been a live-in community in 2019, our expenses for the building and Trust administration have still been ongoing. Expenses include; administrator salary, building repairs and maintenance, utilities costs, rates, property insurance, and maintenance of internet, website and fundraising programmes.
However, CDC remains a community - as it always has been. We have operated and evolved our model for many years without our own premises. The Trust’s Mission Statement ‘Forming disciples fully alive in Christ Jesus’ still stands true. The Trustees are committed to finding ways to continue to deliver on this goal - it will look different in the future to what it has been up until now.
The College continues to be alive today in the many fruits of our alumni who are currently pursuing vocations in religious or married life, and work options (both paid and voluntary) contributing actively to Catholic Church communities around New Zealand.
We ask for your continued prayers and financial support for the College and its mission, in aiding our young adults to deepen their connection with their faith, through formation and fellowship.
Yours in Christ,
Michael Pervan

Interesting Developments at Catholic Discipleship College
The Lord works in Mysterious ways. No sooner had we made the painful decision to close the doors at CDC this year, when another door opened. Trusting in the Lord, we went through that door, and as a result of that step and many more that have followed, we are about to welcome the Xavier Project to CDC. 4 lay Missionaries hailing from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, are arriving this week to occupy the premises here at Pukekohe. They will be eagerly waiting for 9 international students to come and join them to be trained for the next 6 months as Disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is CDC as we have least expected it. A big step taken - after that who knows. Your continued donations over the past few months have not gone unappreciated, every cent has been used to get us to this point.
And there is more…
In the background we have not been idle. After consultations with the NZ Bishops Conference, particularly through Bishop Steven Lowe from Hamilton, negotiations are proceeding to obtain the services of an appointed Spiritual Director and the Board is preparing for the day when we can appoint a new Manager/Household Leader to take us into the future. These are momentous steps to take, please join with us in this. Your contributions to CDC over the years have allowed us to pay our staff. We call upon all faithful lovers of CDC to continue supporting us so that such a new appointment can be made.
As all these small steps are taken, the way ahead becomes clearer and clearer. In the Lords good time, the doors of CDC will open once again welcoming future Disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Continue to pray for the CDC. Pray for the Xavier Project.
Thank you for your support and may it continue - this is genuine team work, we are all in this together.
God Bless you all,
Michael Pervan

Hey everyone, here's an opportunity to march in support of a great and urgent cause 🇳🇿 🚶♀️🚶♂️👶👴

"Do not be afraid to tell him that you too want to be a part of his love story in this world, that you are ready for something greater!" (Pope Francis, WYD 2019)

"Jesus reveals the now of God, who comes to meet us and call us to take part in his now of “proclaiming good news to the poor… bringing liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, setting at liberty those who are oppressed, announcing the year of the Lord’s favour” (Lk 4:18-19).
This is the now of God. It becomes present with Jesus: it has a face, it is flesh. It is a merciful love that does not wait for ideal or perfect situations to show itself, nor does it accept excuses for its appearance. It is God’s time, that makes every situation and place both right and proper. In Jesus, the promised future begins and becomes life ... When? Now. Yet not everyone who was listening felt invited or called. Not all the residents of Nazareth were prepared to believe in someone they knew and had seen grow up, and who was now inviting them to realize a long-awaited dream ...
For Jesus, there is no “meantime”, but only a merciful love that wants to enter into and win over our hearts. He wants to be our treasure, because he is not a “meantime”, an interval in life or a passing fad; he is generous love that invites us to entrust ourselves.
He is concrete, close, real love. He is festive joy, born of opting for and taking part in the miraculous draught of hope and charity, solidarity and fraternity, despite the paralyzed and paralyzing gaze born of fear and exclusion, speculation and manipulation.
Brothers and sisters, the Lord and his mission are not a “meantime” in our life, something temporary; they are our life!"
(Pope Francis, WYD 2019)

We have a busy 3 weeks of events coming up. Don’t miss out! We have something for those wanting a retreat week with accommodation, those just wanting class, those who work during the day and can only manage evenings, and even a retreat for the girls and guys on the weekend! This is going to be 🔥🙏

“Face to face with him, don’t be afraid to open your heart to him and to ask him to renew the fire of his love, so that you can embrace life with all its frailty and flaws, but also with its grandeur and beauty. May he help you to discover the beauty of being alive.” (Pope Francis, WYD 2019)
Jornada Mundial de la Juventud Lisboa 2022 🇵🇹

"The more you are afflicted, the more you ought to rejoice, because in the fire of tribulation the soul will become pure gold, worthy to be placed and to shine in the heavenly palace." - St Padre Pio

"It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be ground down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.” (St. John Paul II)
