Card Merchant in 2021!

The Covid-19 era continues, but that didn't stop us from having an awesome year, including our logo's mascot evolving into the Spike you know and love!

2021 saw the opening of Card Merchant Nelson! The very first franchise, CM Nelson paved the way for all the rest! The Nelson community has been amazing and tight-knit, and has since moved - just one door over on Hardy Street!

2021 was also the year Card Merchant Hamilton opened its doors on Victoria Street! There's been a lot of changes in 5 years, but the store - which has since moved to Bryce Street - continues an amazing legacy, with a fantastic local community supporting plenty of games!

Card Merchant in 2020!

2020 was the year that Covid-19 changed how we had to operate our business. From closing stores depending on the alert level to moving our community online - using Discord for D&D and other communities, holding online quizzes, and doing pack openings - we had to get creative to keep the community engaged! We're glad we still got to do order pick-ups and hold limited events from time to time, encouraging social distancing all the while.

It's also the year Card Merchant Takapuna moved to its current location on Hurstmere Road! The shop has gone through a lot of changes, including a new unicorn mascot, and we can't believe it's been nearly 6 years since we opened our doors there!

As part of our 10th anniversary this month, we're doing another Throwback Thursday!

This week, we're revisiting all of our previous Armageddon Expos! And yes, we did sell Fidget Spinners!

Armageddon Expos and Card Merchant have gone hand in hand since our inception, and we love doing it every year. Tons of planning and preparation, making sure we have enough stock, gathering helpers for our learn-to-plays and making Mystery Boxes... they're definitely a huge part of our year!

But it's always worth it, seeing everyone's happy faces while they learn a new game, pull an awesome card from a pack, win a Golden Ticket from one of our Mystery Boxes, get a Pop Vinyl they've been chasing or trading for a TCG single they've been wanting for ages - nothing brings us more joy! Do you have any awesome Armageddon memories with us?

Thank you to everyone in our community who's supported us at each expo, and thank you to all our staff - previous and current - who have made each Armageddon Expo possible!

Card Merchant in 2019!

2019 marks a significant year for TCGs, as Flesh and Blood was released! We're proud to have been there from the start, supporting events and stocking products since Welcome to Rathe!

2019 is also when we added Squishmallows to the range! It's also when our rewards stamp cards made their debut! The card designs have changed over time and across stores - but keep your eyes peeled, as we have some cool news regarding stamp cards in the near future!
