Women initially listed as unskilled laborers now actively participate in skilled construction tasks!

The Bagar Bheri Embankment Project, supported by LISP and co-financed by Nalgadh Municipality engaged 21 local workers - nine of them women - to implement the project.

Women’s leadership is central to this effort: the Users Committee (UC) is led by a woman, with another woman serving as the Treasurer. To ensure quality, safety, and inclusion, LISP supported the UC through pre‑construction training on inclusion standards, Occupational Health and Safety, CPP & PSEAH policies, among others. Through hands‑on, on‑site guidance, committee members—especially women—developed practical construction skills, including gabion box fabrication, gaining confidence and experience they can carry into future opportunities."

For the first time, women in Siyala, Ward No. 3 of Dullu Municipality, Dailekh, Karnali proudly participated in the community consultation meeting for the feasibility survey of the Bahunpali–Amen Piru Road Upgrading Project. Their excitement and active participation marked an important step toward ensuring that local infrastructure planning reflects the perspectives and needs of women in the community. 💬👩‍🌾👷‍♀️

LISP supported Dimugaira-Tatopani Road in Putha Uttarganga, East Rukum stands as a benchmark for for community-driven, resource efficient development in Nepal. This project emphasises local employment generations, inclusion of women workers, and utilisation of locally available construction materials.

👷 Why This Project Matters:

Champions of Local Employment and Inclusion: With a daily mobilisation of 15 Dalit and Janajati workers (averaging 7 females and 8 males), the project is actively narrowing the gender gap and providing meaningful livelihoods.

Sustainability at the Core: By sourcing sand from the Tatopani River and stone from the Mayang quarry, we’ve slashed transportation costs and reduced our environmental footprint through smart, local resource management.

Economic Impact: With daily wages of NPR 1,200 (skilled) and NPR 990 (unskilled), the project puts money directly back into the pockets of the community."

LISP अन्तर्गत, हुम्ला सिमकोटको वडा नं. ५ मा रहेको खोला तटबन्धन तथा ढल परियोजनाले उल्लेखनीय महिलाको सहभागिता देखायो। ३४ जना मजदूरमध्ये २३ जना महिला थिए, जसले जम्मा १,५६२ कार्यदिवसमध्ये १,०५६ कार्यदिवस पूरा गरेर महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिए।

👷‍♀️ महिलाहरूले श्रम-आधारित निर्माणमा अग्रणी भूमिका खेले—सुरक्षा सामग्री लगाउने, निर्माण सामग्री व्यवस्थापन गर्ने, ढलान स्थिरीकरण तथा ग्याबियन पर्खाल निर्माणमा सक्रिय रूपमा सहभागिता जनाए।

व्यवहारिक अनुभवमार्फत उनीहरूले सामग्री व्यवस्थापन, ग्याबियन फिलिङ, माटो सम्हाल्ने सीप, र सुरक्षा अभ्यासहरू अझ सुदृढ बनाएका छन्।
