A poem

02/11/2025

Yesterday, I had the honor to meet so many wonderful people at Genootschap Nederland-Aruba. Including Meneer Quito Nicolaas! We had a wonderful conversation about being a Caribbean author.

23/10/2025

I’ll be performing on Nov 1st at the Annual Netherlands Aruba Gathering in The Hague.

Theme: The limits of tourism.

Didn’t expect to be in a room like this; it’s made me really think about what tourism means for us.

For Aruba.
For home.
How much we give and how much we lose.

I write about love and about my island.
This time, I get to speak that love from another angle, one that aches and protects at the same time.

I’ll also be selling my poetry book Miel di Abeja there.

Everyone’s welcome (€15 for externals).

✨ Miel di Abeha — one last update (for now) ✨

There are very limited copies left in the Netherlands, so if you’ve been meaning to grab one, now’s the time. On Aruba, you can now officially find the book at Plaza Bookshop Aruba (the price may differ slightly, but not by much).

I want to thank Cultuurfonds Caribisch Gebied for helping make this dream possible through their subsidy, and I want to thank all of you for the incredible support I’ve received. I have truly felt carried — that both Carla’s and my work have been seen, celebrated, and appreciated.

My personal highlight? Knowing Miel di Abeha now lives in the National Archive (what a legacy!) — and of course, meeting so many of you along the way. 💛🐝

Until January, I’ll be focusing fully on Miel di Abeha. After that, I plan to retreat into writing again (and, let’s be honest, a little social media hiatus). My other page will be mostly for sh*ts and giggles anyway, because—well—ADHD runs this account more than I do.

With love, gratitude, and a little chaos,
Giraluna Gil

Today, I left a signed copy of Miel di Abeha on my mom’s grave. I’ll be honest, it’s hers, first.
But I also know things left behind don’t always stay.

If you find it, and it calls to you, take it home.
There’s a message inside just for whoever that might be.
She’d like that—
that something meant for her could still belong to someone living.
