📣 Open Call: Climate-Conscious Youth Work

Forest fires, deserts where there used to be lakes, crop failures. Who bears the responsibility and who must pay the price? If you want to explore how youth work can help young people take action on climate and sustainability, then join us in Kaunas, Lithuania!
You will join a team of youth leaders, youth workers, and educators from across Europe and Turkey exploring climate perspectives, climate crises, and youth work as a solution.

When? 13–20 October

Pernik, Bulgaria is proud to be a finalist for the European Youth Capitsl (EYC) 2029 title!

Located in western Bulgaria, only 30km from Sofia, Pernik is a city redefining its future through the energy, creativity, and commitment of its young people!

They are constantly engaging and motivating youth to be the leaders of change for a better future!

The goals and motivations of Pernik mirror those of NLO, focusing on trainings, civic engagement, human rights, and leadership and support for vulnerable young people. We couldnt be happier to endorse them in this candidacy!

The network of NLO reaches across the country, so it was only right that we took the team on a bit of field trip to see who our members are, what experience they bring, and to share ideas about best practices or spaces for collaborate.

One of the most important things in our organisation is networking- that’s why it’s in our name.

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming our Italian friends from ProMETHEUS, for knowledge sharing and seeing how both of our organisations can work together and continue collaboration in the future.

We showcased several local initiatives, national events, international projects and European advocacy work that we do and found common ground in many! We both have ongoing mental health projects that we’re working on and already discussed how this can be taken further next year!

After the meeting, we took care of our own mental health aswell 😉… any better way to do that than being treated to Turkish doner! 🇹🇷

Don’t be surprised if you see us all working hard together in the future 👀

Mental health wellbeing and resilience.

NLO met with youth workers and practitioners from Portugal 🇵🇹, Serbia 🇷🇸, Turkiye 🇹🇷, Malta 🇲🇹, Italy 🇮🇹 and the Netherlands 🇳🇱, in order to discuss this topic of significant importance and see how we can best benefit ourselves, and those around us.

We went into detail regarding:
- Work we have conducted
- Work we have ongoing including studies and developments through our KA220 project
- New opportunities to get involved in (including a fully funded project in Bulgaria soon!)
- New projects we are developing

Although we waved goodbye at the end, we hope that the next time we wave at you will be to greet you at another one of our opportunities continuing to improve the mental health of young people, youth workers and practitioners within our networks and beyond! 👋

From new international friendships, to fun and personal moments, to collecting new recipes. During our project in Ommen we met inspiring people and made memories that none of us will ever forget 💙

When you spend more than a week together as a group, you get close quickly. We enjoyed getting to know such a diverse group and seeing them get more confident in their storytelling. Every participant taught us something new and valuable

We already miss these precious moments and the unlimited hugs🫂

Icebreakers, storytelling games, energisers cultural nights, and so much more.. Our Erasmus was filled with fun moments 🪭

Of course we also had a lot of time to explore and show off our dance moves..💃🏻🕺🏽

Don’t get jealous, but...

From helva and baklava, to jamón, to crepes, our participans brought over a lot of delicious food to try 👀

We’re thankful for everyone that participated in our project. We already miss you loads 🌞
