Amid this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the Palestine Film Institute (PFI) launched the Palestine Film Fund (PFF), a new funding initiative aimed at empowering Palestinian filmmakers to reclaim authorship over their own narratives and images.

Backed by International Media Support, the IDFA Bertha Fund and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, with support from IRIS, the PFF will award €5,000–€15,000 to shorts and features at any stage of development. All Palestinian filmmakers are welcome to apply—wherever they live—though priority goes to those in Palestine, lower-income countries or in regions where discrimination against Palestinian voices restricts access to funding opportunities.

“For more than a century, Palestinians have created powerful images, films, sounds, and narratives documenting our people’s experiences, yet these images have often been silenced, erased, or used against us,” says PFI board member Reem Shadid.

Selin Murat of the IDFA Bertha Fund adds, “The launch of this fund comes at a critical moment where it is urgent to support the autonomous, critical, and artistic voices of Palestinian filmmakers worldwide. We strongly believe in this mandate and our partners’ shared vision of a vibrant Palestinian filmmaking community firmly connected to the global film landscape, through direct funding and tailored support.”

NL Viagens, een mix van video-dans en reisdagboek, is een serie van 13 videowerken van het Braziliaanse duo Patricia Niedermeyer en Cavi Borges, die een fusie van film, performance en reizen voorstellen. Gefilmd op verschillende locaties, waaronder Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, Paraíba, São Paulo en Maranhão, is Viagens bovenal een zintuiglijke reis, die ons meeneemt door middel van soundscapes en kleuren, en plaatsen oproept die aanvankelijk alleen bestonden op kaarten en papier. Niedermeyer en Borges zullen aanwezig zijn voor een Q&A na de vertoning.

EN A mixture of video-dance and travel diary, Viagens is a series of 13 video works by the Brazilian visual artist and performance duo Patricia Niedermeyer and Cavi Borges, proposing a fusion of cinema, performance and travel. Filmed in diverse locations including Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, Paraíba, São Paulo, and Maranhão, Viagens is above all a sensorial journey, transporting us through soundscapes and colors, evoking places that initially existed only on maps and paper. Niedermeyer and Borges will be present for a Q&A after the screening.
