Our precious students with locked hands praying to God in the mighty name of Jesus!

¡Nuestros preciosos estudiantes con las manos entrelazadas orando a Dios en el poderoso nombre de Jesús!
International Day of Prayer.

God is clearly sending us a message that He is with us. Please join us in prayer as we pray for our school, our students, staff, and families at the GCEC.

Today is a day to adore and commune with God!
Today’s teacher training came from ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International - Latin America). Two wonderful workshops on 1) Biblical discipline in the classroom and 2) Biblical integration and Christian worldview in the classroom. Both were excellent! We are so excited to be members of ACSI. We still have a few trainings to go. Our teachers are hungry to grow professionally and spiritually. Thank you Sareth and Hernan for yourwonderful teaching!
Took the staff at the GCEC school out for ice cream at FREEZE on the Calzada. They've been working hard to prepare for classes to start in another 10 days. We've got a great team.
And our staff preparation continues! Today we spent all morning reviewing and doing some training on our new Bible curriculum, programming lessons, and role-playing dynamic and fun activities. Our teachers have such a heart full of love for God and our students!!! We are excited about strengthening our Christian education at the GCEC. Without Christ at the center, our mission and vision would not be met.
So many incredible things going on at the GCEC as we get ready to start the 2022 school year with 8 grade levels (PK-6th). It's incredible to think this year we will be offering 6th grade. Today, Pastor Lesly Herrera, a father to two of our students, local pastor, and friend did an incredible training with all of our staff on the health and nutrition benefits of Moringa (if you've never heard of Moringa, look it up and you will be amazed). We will also be doing trainings with parents and continue educating our students on the importance of caring for their bodies (God's temple). We believe in holistic education for our students and their health is extremely important. It's hard to learn and grow spiritually if our bodies are not healthy. Thank you Pastor Lesly Herrera for your partnership!
We are excited to start the 2022 school year in early February, but first we have to get much done in preparation. Our first staff training of the 2022 school year was bathed in prayer. Please join us in praying for our staff and students who will join us soon. We kick off the 2022 school year with 200 students matriculated, a brand new 6th grade classroom, and much hope for the future. We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength!
Our sister ministry. God bless you, El Puente.

Wow. I see a lot of Nicas liking this. The location is at the end of Santa Lucia, take the left street toward the ice factory, on the left about 50 varas.
Tonight we got to celebrate our wonderful staff and committed volunteers. It was an incredible time of great food, much laughter, and vision casting! They deserve a little pampering after a challenging but great year.
Summer school tutoring is under way. This is our way of helping our students who need extra support before moving to the next grade.

The GCEC is a Christ-centered transformational development ministry founded in 2010 to meet the education and spiritual needs of the children of Granada, Nicaragua.

On the outskirts of Granada, Nicaragua in the shadow of a volcano named Mombacho lies the rapidly growing barrio of Pantanal. It is a community that has been underserved by all measures. Joblessness, broken families, physical, sexual, and substance abuse are woven into the fabric of daily life. For the approximately 8,000 people that live in Pantanal, transformation will require education. However

God is faithful. Not fully funded yet, but we know he will provide.

To all our friends, thank you for your generosity toward the 6th grade classroom and student sponsorships yesterday. We trust in the Lord's plans and provision, as always, and deeply appreciate your part in that.

Please keep an eye out for postings from us tomorrow, with two ways you can support the school in Granada. For our friends on the newsletter list, we will also send this opportunity to you directly via email. Thanks, and we look forward to tomorrow, Giving Tuesday, 2021.

We've begun construction on the 8th classroom. All foundations hand dug and ready for next steps. The 5th grade children are pretty excited to see their 6th grade classroom under way.

Recognizing that we all have much to be thankful for, we hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving. With thanks for your interest, love, prayers and sacrifice on behalf of the children and their families of the GCEC school in Nicaragua.

Silent night. A slightly older class. We're thankful to our volunteer corps for teaching music.

A class of our youngsters learning the words to Merry Christmas, a mash up of Spanish and English. Classes end at the end of November and kinder graduation is December 20th. Today is PE so most are in gym clothes, rather than uniforms. Feliz Navidad is already on everybody's mind.

Great things continue to happen at the GCEC. Our students celebrated Indigenous Resistance Day on October 12, parents enjoyed a great workshop led by some local Christian leaders and ministry partners, and today was picture day for our upcoming kinder promotion on December 10. God continues to be faithful in every regard. Thank you all for your prayers and support

A happy Monday message from the GCEC school in Granada. Xylophones and some early music training provided by our home church, Trinity, in Charlottesville. A generous volunteer teacher from the Barrio around the school. What happens? Students playing Beethoven's 9th and singing the notes as they develop music skills. Lovely music, a tribute to working together to create something beautiful.

Part of the patriotic celebration at the school yesterday. The children planned this with the teachers and directors. We love the devotion to their country.

Today at the Granada Christia Education Center we celebrated Nicaraguan Independance Day. Although Covid wouldn't allow for the full parade through the neighborhood with family and friends, the 180 children and their teachers put together a beautiful tribute to their country, expressing their love and thankfulness. Children danced to folkloric music, pledged allegiance and remembered the sacrifices of those who established the nation. Well done, everyone.

Happy Nicaraguan Father's Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, and other men serving the role of father in the lives of our students. We pray for God's blessings over you in your very important role in the lives of your children.
