BCAF PAD A GIRL CHILD PROJECT

In our continuous effort to impact, empower, and transform lives, Bishop Cyrinus Akpan Foundation (BCAF) successfully held its PAD A GIRL CHILD Project at St. Theresa Secondary School, Edem Ekpat, Etinan Local Government Area to commemorate this year's International Day of the Girl Child.

BCAF Vice President Obong Surv. Unwana Akpan set the tone for the event through an electrifying welcome address reminding the students and teachers of BCAF objective to touch lives positively across the length and breadth of Akwa Ibom State and beyond.

The event, aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene awareness among female students, featured enlightening hygiene lectures by Nurse Inibehe Udo and Nurse Edisua Nyong, who sensitized the students on proper menstrual hygiene management, self-care, and healthy habits during their menstrual periods.

Students and teachers were granted opportunity to asks series of mind-blowing questions with our facilitators on standby to give appropriate practical answers to all asked questions and concerns.

A special talk on the Menstrual Cycle was delivered by Mrs. Ekaette Ebong, who educated the girls on understanding their bodies, maintaining confidence, and breaking the myths surrounding menstruation.

The high point of the event was the free distribution of sanitary pads to all female students by the Foundation a gesture that brought smiles and relief to many young girls. To add to the excitement, the Foundation also distributed bottles of Frescca Fruit Juice to the students.

In her closing remark, the Principal of St. Theresa Secondary School appreciated the Foundation for its thoughtful initiative, describing it as “a timely intervention that will go a long way in supporting girl-child education and confidence.” The event was rounded off with a word of prayer and blessings from the school leadership.

This year’s theme, "𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲.” reminds us of the urgent need to continue empowering girls through education, mentorship, and equal opportunities. At Bishop Cyrinus Akpan Foundation, we believe that when you educate and empower a girl, you uplift a family, a community, and a nation.

Our Foundation remains deeply committed to promoting the well-being, dignity, and rights of the girl child. Through initiatives such as our 𝑷𝑨𝑫 𝑨 𝑮𝑰𝑹𝑳 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕, we continue to advocate for menstrual hygiene awareness, education support, and gender equality, ensuring that no girl is left behind due to biological or social barriers.
