As the world marks the World Hypertension Day, 17 May 2024, with the Theme: 'Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control it, Live Longer', we are reminded by WHO, of the words of the World Hypertension League (WHL), that 'Hypertension is a driving force in the global epidemic of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and the leading risk factor for death and disability globally.'

Thus, the entire team at Kandi Development Services joins in expanding the awareness and consciousness about Hypertension, encouraging adult women and men to adopt lifestyle modifications like, carry out regular blood pressure checks, eat healthy, engage in regular exercises, be active, as well as seeking appropriate medical/professional services and care.

Kandi joins hands and voices with Development partners, health workers, government, the private sector, and other stakeholders in the fight against this 'silent killer' responsible for a great many deaths.

Malaria is a major disease burden in sub saharan Africa, especially, in Nigeria, where it's responsible for deaths and disruptions in livelihood and businesses, its resultant population and economic effect, with Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria accounting for about a third of Malaria prevalence amongst children under 5yrs (Malaria Indicator Survey 2021 - Factsheet).

As the world marks this year's World Malaria Day, with the Theme: Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world, and Slogan: Let's change the narrative now; it is fundamental for innovative partnerships to be formed and strengthened at various levels, towards eliminating malaria.

Kandi Development Services, along these lines, provided technical assistance, including private sector guidance, to the State Malaria Elimination Program of the Ministry of Health, to plan and carry out the Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM) activity, to further improve on coordination and sustainability of Malaria Elimination Program in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The DRM activity, which drew public as well as private sector stakeholders (aviation, manufacturing, media, religious groups, government MDAs, health associations, development partners, etc) yielded committed resources, renewed partnerships, amongst others, held on 23 April 2024 at the prestigious Four Points by Sheraton hotel, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. Kandi continues to support public private sector partnerships for Development. Malaria elimination is possible.
