At 40, I agreed to marry a man with a disabled leg. There was no love between us. On our wedding night, I trembled when I lifted the blanket and discovered a shocking truth.
I am Sarah, 40 years old.
My youth slowly faded through a series of unfinished love stories some men betrayed me, others only saw me as a temporary stop.
Each time my heart broke, my mother would look at me with sadness in her eyes and say,
“Sarah, maybe it’s time to stop chasing perfection. James next door is a good man. He may walk with a limp, but he has a kind heart.”
James, our neighbor, is five years older than me.
He injured his right leg in a car accident when he was 17.
He lives with his elderly mother in a small wooden house in the quiet town of Burlington,, and works as an electronics and computer repairman.
He is quiet, a little clumsy, but always carries a gentle smile.
People often said James had liked me for years but never had the courage to say it.
I used to think at 40, what more could I hope for?
Maybe having a kind person to lean on is better than growing old alone.
So, on a rainy autumn afternoon, I finally said yes.
There was no wedding dress, no grand ceremony just a few close friends and a simple dinner.
That night, I lay still in our new bedroom, listening to the rain tapping on the porch roof. My heart was filled with uncertainty.
James walked in slowly, his limp more noticeable in the dim light, holding something in his hand…

I FOUND A STRANGE WOMAN SLEEPING ON MY HUSBAND’S BED — WHAT HAPPENED NEXT LEFT ME SPEECHLESS
EPISODE 1.......
My name is Amaka, 30 years old, and I thought I had finally found peace after years of heartbreak. My husband, Chike, was everything I ever prayed for — handsome, gentle, and God-fearing. At least, that’s what I believed for the first three years of our marriage.
We met in church, and everyone admired us. We prayed together, fasted together, and even started a small business together. Chike was my pride. Whenever people asked how I managed to get such a responsible man, I would smile and say, “God’s grace.”
But it turned out I was only seeing what he wanted me to see.
It started slowly. He began spending more time at “work.” Sometimes, he would leave the house early and come back late, claiming he was meeting clients. I noticed new perfumes, shirts I didn’t buy, and strange lipstick stains on his handkerchief. But every time I asked, he’d say, “You think too much, Amaka. Relax.”
Then, one night, something strange happened.
He said he had a night meeting with a client and wouldn’t be back until morning. Around 11 PM, I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to check something in his wardrobe. I saw a second phone — one I had never seen before. It was switched off, so I charged it.
When it came on, the wallpaper made my heart drop — it was a picture of Chike and another woman, smiling in a hotel room. Her name was saved as “Angel.”
That night, I couldn’t breathe. I sat on the floor, staring at the picture, tears running down my face. I wanted to call him immediately, but something told me to wait. To be calm. To plan.
The next morning, he came home pretending to be tired. I greeted him warmly, cooked his favorite meal, and acted like nothing happened. But deep down, I knew something was coming.
Three days later, he said he had to travel to Enugu for business and would spend two nights there. I pretended to believe him. That night, I called my cousin Ngozi, wh

. " You said you are not a mad man? Why are you dressed this way? Why are you looking dirty? "Cassandra asked and sat beside him.
" I'm not a mad man. I'm sane and I know what I'm doing. I was bannished from my village after my mother was accused of being a witch. I don't have a good place to lay my head or good clothes to wear. I work on people's farms just to get money to eat " He said with a sad countenance.
" I'm sorry for thinking you were mad. I'm staying with my aunt , but I will try to bring you some portions of fruit whenever I can " Cassandra said.
" My name is Benjamin but you can call me Ben. What about you? What can I call you? " He asked.
" Well, my name is Cassandra but my friend calls me Cassy " Cassandra responded with a smile.
" I like you so much Cassy " The man said to Cassandra which came as a surprise. She wasn't expecting that from him. She was only trying to help him and he is confessing love to her.
Cassandra didn't say anything. She just smiled not to hurt the young man's feelings. Then she carried her tray back on her head and left the place.
" How can he say he likes me? He is still struggling and looking for a way to feed. I'm just trying to be kind and helpful. I don't want to be poor. I need to work hard so I can make money " Cassandra said with a sad countenance and continued hawking her fruits.
Cassandra went home that day after her sales which were faster as the day goes by. Her aunt was not yet back so she decided to go see her friend Sonia. Cassandra told Sonia what happened between her and Ben. When she told Sonia about how Ben told her he likes her, Sonia bursted out laughing. It sounded really funny.
" See you that brags that you will marry a rich man. A poor man who doesn't even know his left from his right is telling you he loves you. Besides that young man who you served in my mother's shop came by today. He was looking for you. He said he has a special

When Dominic arrived at Raymond's house, he sat on the ground and began wéeping silently.
Dominic, please tell me how it went. Raymond asked.
Raymond, I told you that my family would leave no unturned until the woman is exécuted.
But why didn't you tell them that you wanted the woman imprísoned rather than exécuted?
My father and the King disagreed, so I decided to leave the palace.
This is extremely complicated; do you believe the woman actually kïlled your daughter?
Raymond, I do not believe it because Angel and the woman were very friendly, and I do not think the woman could have kïlled Angel.
Well, you have done your best; now let God do the impossible. May God have mercy on the póór woman. Raymond responded, and as they were interacting, Dominic received a call from Junior.
Hello daddyyyy!! Where are youuuu? Junior scréamed.
Junior, what is going on? Are you okay? Dominic curiously asked.
Daddy, please come to the house right now.

A few weeks later, in the morning, Mama Ifeoma was in the kitchen dishing out some jollof rice and meat into five different plates. Amongst the five plates of food, one was visibly small with tiny meat.
Soon after, she called her daughter, Amara, to come and carry them to their owners.
Later, Amara took the one with tiny meat and headed towards Ifeoma's hut.
When she was out of sight of her mother, she took the tiny meat and ate quickly and wiped her mouth. After that, she continued moving.
Before she could get to Ifeoma's hut, she heard a gagging sound followed by a wet splashing sound. She looked towards the direction of the sound and found Ifeoma throwing up intensely.
She was surprised but didn't make a sound.
She carried the food into the hut to keep it in its place, but discovered she didn't eat the last one she brought the previous night.
Just then, she remembered she hadn't seen some plates she used to serve her the other day.
She wondered what had happened to the plates.
"Maybe she hadn't been eating for days and didn't want anyone to know," she thought.
"I think Mama needs to know about this. Mama's food makes her throw up or what?"
After that, she kept the plate of food at its usual place and gently walked out without telling Ifeoma about the food.
She went back to her mother who was still in the kitchen.
"Mama, do you know that Ifeoma has not been eating her food?
"What do you mean?"
"I found the one I dropped last night in her hut still looking untouched. She was even v0miting. Maybe the food..."
"Where is she?" She asked, surprisedly, after hearing Amara's last statement.
"She is outside her hut."
Mama Ifeoma left what she was doing and rushed to Ifeoma's hut. Amara followed her.
On getting there, they found Ifeoma inside her hut looking weak and exhausted.
"Ifeoma!!" Her mother called.
Ifeoma was startled at the sudden sound of her name.
"What is wrong with you?!" She asked suspiciously.
"I don't know, I have not been

It was a peaceful Sunday afternoon in the neighborhood—until the Great Smell War began.
Mr. Chuka, the man in the purple vest, had just settled into his “throne” (also known as his plastic chair) to enjoy the fresh air—or at least what was left of it after last week’s power outage. He was minding his business, humming an old highlife song, when suddenly—WHOOOOSH!—a mysterious aroma invaded his nostrils.
At first, he thought it was perfume. Then he thought it was incense. But no… it was too powerful. Too smoky. Too… suspiciously delicious.
He sniffed again and screamed, “Hey neighbour! What in the name of pepper soup is that smell?!”
On the other side of the wall, his neighbour, Innocent (who was not living up to his name), was quietly enjoying a plate of jollof rice with fried fish the size of a baby crocodile. Steam danced out of his bowl like it was auditioning for a perfume commercial.
Chuka, now half choking, half jealous, shouted through the window,
“Neighbour, abeg! Try by all possible means so that the odour of that your food should not reach me here! Tsiuuuup!”
Innocent froze mid-bite, spoon in the air, confused. “But… sir, I’m inside my own house!”
Chuka didn’t care. “And I’m inside mine! But your rice has long legs! It has crossed borders! Even my mosquito coils can’t fight it!”
The rice smell continued its peaceful invasion, ignoring all diplomacy. Desperate, Chuka grabbed air freshener, insecticide, even toothpaste—nothing worked. Meanwhile, Innocent kept eating, pretending not to notice the angry sniffing sounds from the other room.
Finally, Chuka shouted again, “Neighbour, if you won’t stop cooking that food, at least share it! Let the odour and the owner unite!”
Ten minutes later, a peace offering arrived—a hot plate of jollof rice. Chuka accepted it like a man signing a peace treaty, smiling proudly.

Dominic was deeply touched; he looked at her with têary eyes, then left the room, and went to his wife's room.
Monica, can you tell me what happened to my daughter that I left with you? Because I do not think that póór woman could kíll Angel.
Do not mind her innocent face; because she is a devíl in human form. She can kïll while pretending to be innocent. Monica responded.
Woman, you have not answered my question: what happened to my daughter, whom I left with you to travel abroad? He asked ångrily.
I was in my room getting ready to take Junior and Angel to school when you called and told me to rush to the dining table downstairs to give them the phone, and then I returned to my room to finish getting ready.
5 minutes later, Junior brought me the phone, and as he was about to return to the dining table to finish his breakfast, I heard Angel scrëaming heavily from downstairs, and when we rushed downstairs, I caught mama Alice trying to open the door to run away, and I saw bl00d stain in her hand and clothes, so I decided to stop her and ask her why Angel was scrëaming and where she was running to with belongings, she began stammering, and when I got to the kitchen, I saw Angel lying dëad on the ground.
Monica explained, and Dominic left without saying anything and went to Junior's room. When he arrived, Junior was busy looking at Angel's pictures and cryîng heavily, and his father walked in and comforted him.
Dominic then locked the door and began questioning Junior, while

Lawson’s heart started pounding fast. He could not believe who he just saw standing before him.
“Don’t run, please. I’m not here for trouble,” Gina said calmly, raising her hands a bit.
Lawson sat down slowly, though he was still uneasy. “What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice low but firm.
“I just came here to cool off my head,” she said with a faint smile. “Then I saw you and decided to come and apologize for what I did the other time.”
Lawson breathed out deeply, as if a heavy load just left his chest. “So, we are good now?” he asked carefully.
“Yes,” she nodded. “I’ve moved on. I came with my new love, he’s right over there.” She pointed towards a young man laughing with friends at the far end of the lounge.
“Wow, nice one. I wish you well,” Lawson said, sounding more relaxed now.
“Thanks. You guys should enjoy yourselves,” Gina said, smiled politely, and walked away.
Maxwell burst into laughter immediately. “Finally, my guy don free oo! I thought you didn’t fear anything or anyone.”
Lawson chuckled. “My brother, when it comes to Gina, I run for my life oo. Not after what happened that day.”
“True talk,” Maxwell said, still laughing.
Meanwhile, Tina was in Alex’s apartment, lyiñg on his chest as they talked.
“I came to your company today but didn’t see you,” Alex said, brushing her hair gently. “I wanted to surprise you.”
Tina sat up quickly. “Wait, your company name is Chima’s Group of Companies?”
“Yeah,” Alex said proudly. “It’s from my dad’s name, Alex Chima.”
“Oh, I see,” she said slowly. “So you’re partnering with us now? Meaning you’ll be coming there regularly?”
“Yeah,” Alex replied. “But sometimes I’ll just send my team.”
Tina pouted and looked away.
You don’t even look happy for me. You should be proud, babe.” Alex said.
“I’m happy,” she said softly. “I’m just angry you didn’t tell me about it earlier.” She wrapped her hands around his neck and behaved like a little girl.
“I’m sorry, baby,” Alex said with a smile. “I just want
