Navy Under Fire as Bishop Demands Probe into Brutalisation of Anglican Priest at Anambra Checkpoint

The Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Ogbaru, Rt. Rev. Prosper Amah, has called for an immediate and independent investigation into the assault of an Anglican cleric, Revd. Tochukwu Agina, allegedly brutalised by a naval officer at a checkpoint in Anambra State.

In a petition dated December 2, 2025, and addressed to the Chief of Naval Staff, Bishop Amah recounted that the incident occurred on Sunday, November 30, around 5:00 p.m., at the Okpotouno Naval Checkpoint in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

According to the bishop, the naval officer accused Revd. Agina of making a phone call while approaching the checkpoint, an allegation both the priest and eyewitnesses insist was untrue.

“On Sunday, 30th November 2025, at about 5pm, a deeply disturbing incident occurred at a naval checkpoint located at Okpotouno, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, where a naval officer brutalised an Anglican priest of the Diocese of Ogbaru under a false allegation that he was making a phone call at the checkpoint,” the petition stated.

Bishop Amah added that several eyewitnesses confirmed that the cleric neither held nor used a phone at the time. Despite this, the officer subjected him to “physical assault and inhumane treatment.” Although the injured priest was later given first aid at a naval clinic, the bishop insisted that such an action did not excuse the misconduct.

Condemning the assault as “an abuse of authority and a clear violation of fundamental human rights, the military code of conduct, and the professional ethics of the Nigerian Navy,” the bishop stressed that no Nigerian, let alone a clearly identifiable cleric- should endure such treatment.

He reminded the naval leadership that the Navy’s uniform represents discipline, honour, and service, not intimidation or oppression.

Bishop Amah concluded his petition with a firm demand for a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation; identification and disciplinary action against the officer involved; reassurance to the victim’s family and community; preventive measures through improved civilian-military relations training; and compensation for the injured priest.

FG Uncovers 15 Fake Companies Running Illegal Operations in Nigeria

The Federal Government has sounded the alarm after the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) uncovered 15 companies operating in Nigeria with fraudulent registration details.

In a public notice shared on X, the CAC warned Nigerians to exercise extreme caution when dealing with individuals or organizations using the names and supposed registration numbers of these entities, noting a surge in complaints about suspicious business activities.

According to the Commission, the following entities are not found in its official database and are operating with fake registration details:

Famas Services Nigeria Limited – RC 216312

Promo Dutch Investment Limited – RC 396654

Dialack Concept Nig. Ltd – RC 297772

Purpleheart Construction and Real Estate Mgt. Co. Ltd – RC 1210548

M/S Loktu Enterprises – BN 373466

Loktu Enterprises – BN 400390

Gabdoff Hotel Ltd – RC 112409

Amoka Group – BN 545221

BEEC Nigeria Limited – RC 30143

S. Adetunji – BN 657466

The Commission stressed that dealings with any of these organizations carry significant risk because they lack legal corporate status and therefore offer no legal protection to those transacting with them.

To safeguard the public from fraud, the CAC urged Nigerians and businesses to take the following steps before entering any business agreement:

1. Verify Names and Numbers:
Confirm company names and RC/BN numbers on the CAC online verification portal.

2. Request Proper Documentation:
Always demand incorporation documents when engaging in sensitive or high-value transactions.

3. Avoid Unverified Payments:
Do not make payments to entities that cannot be confirmed on the CAC database.

4. Report Suspicious Activity:
Forward suspicious corporate identities to the CAC or law enforcement agencies.

The Commission noted that this publication aligns with its mandate to maintain a transparent, trustworthy corporate registry and ensure a safe business environment across Nigeria.

You are not going to die because you are sick, neither will you live long because you look healthy. You will not be wealthy because you work so hard, neither will be poor because you do not work hard.
Connect with God',s frequency and you will see this life from a completely different prism. Then all heavenly and earthly blessings will be yours for the asking. Christian Bible John 10vs.30.

The Story Is Told:

This painting of a young woman breastfeeding an old man in a prison cell was sold for Euros 30 million. The painting may look perverse but the story behind is from historical records.

The poor man was sentenced to "death by starvation" for stealing a loaf of bread during the reign of Louis XIV in France. The woman was his only daughter and the only visitor to his cell. She was allowed to visit him daily but was frisked thoroughly such that no food was taken in.

When after 4 months the man still survived with no weight loss, the authorities were perplexed and started spying on her in the cell and to their utter astonishment found her to breastfeed her father to the fullest sharing her baby's milk. The judges then realizing the compassion and love of the woman for her father, pardoned the father and set him free.

This piece of history brings into focus how deep is a woman's compassion in our daily lives that men often tend to overlook.
