Cancer is a deadly disease that affects millions of people across the globe. Coming with the dreadful news of having a short time to live, many cancer patients lose their guard, give up on their hopes and aspirations then wait for the end of their stay on earth.

However, a girl changed the narrative and fought cancer and prolonged her days.

The story of Melinda Rose, a 12 year old resident of Canada who was diagnosed of a rare case of blood cancer and was told by the doctors that she had few weeks to live but did not allow the news deter her is a story of hope and courage.

She was hopeful to live longer and even with her condition, she spread hope and happiness to other patients at the center including medical staff before her demise.

In order to celebrate her bravery and courage and to give hope to all cancer fighters across the globe, September 22 is celebrated as World Rose Day.

In the spirit of this celebration and to pass the message of hope to every cancer patient out there, I'd leave you with a quote by Christopher Reeves which says "Once you choose hope anything's possible."

In order to promote peace, each of us must play a part. And one important way to participate is to combat racism.

We can fight to undermine the institutionalized racism in our society. All across the world, we can help movements for equality and human rights. We have the power to condemn hate speech, both online and off. Education and restitution for past wrongs are two ways we may advance anti-racism.

The core values of Democracy border around freedom of association, speech, inclusiveness, and equality among others.
However, what is mostly viewed by many millennial today when the topic of democracy is raised is the ability to decide who occupies the executive positions through free and fair election. Does this encapsulate all the principles of democracy? Why are other areas not so much emphasized? (a food for thought).
This year (2022), in the spirit of celebration of Democracy, the theme for International Day of Democracy is *Strengthening Democratic Resilience in the Face of Future Crises.*💪

This season calls for a time of sober reflection as each member state of the United Nations are meant to go back to the drawing board, reflect on what the core cornerstones of Democracy are, mark their own scripts and rise from where they have fallen, pick up what is left of their dignity and make a renewed resolution to Strengthen democratic resilience even in the face of obvious future crises.

Every 12th of August has been proclaimed to celebrate the young ones internationally with the tag, "International Youth Day." By this, the interrelation and collaborative efforts of youths globally is achieved and strengthened.💪

This is why TEDxAAUA is inviting the younger generation to her public speaking event, for a change in the narrative of the predicted fate of the future yet unseen.

TEDxAAUA mission aim towards rebuilding the collapsing future, and redesigning its fate, so the world and its future can be sustained and protected. Bearers of the future are thereby called, for an impactful social development gathering to address effective co-existence, mediocrity mentality, leadership bias and their way forward.

Knowing your state of health is an essential medical need, this connotes the necessity for constant medical check-ups in understanding one's well-being or need for medical treatment.

World Hepatitis Day is observed every 28th of July each year to create adequate awareness on eliminating the global infection, as its cause is yet unknown.

Hepatitis which causes inflammation of the liver, leading to severe disease and liver cancer is currently an outbreak affecting the world. It is an acute viral infection among children, adolescents and adults.

In commemoration of WHD, we admonish individuals, government and medical stakeholders to ensure the prevention of the Hepatitis pandemic in our nation, Nigeria. Everyone deserves a healthy life, physical, internal and mental health, indeed health is wealth.
