Aminu Muhammad Ado, a Nigerian soldier who survived the devastating Boko Haram attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza LGA, Borno State, on March 3, 2026, has shared a heartbreaking eyewitness account of the carnage that claimed numerous lives, including soldiers and civilians.
In an emotional post, he wrote: “What my eyes and heart saw in Ngoshe town is something I will never forget in my life. I pray to Allah never to show us such a day again. What happened shows that some people have lost faith and compassion in their hearts. They killed people as if they were not human beings—no elder, no baby, no soldier, no civilian. Anyone who speaks casually probably didn’t see what happened. But those of us who witnessed it felt terror and panic. Wallahi, we will never forget March 3, 2026. Every time I lie down, it replays in my eyes until I cry.”
Aminu continued: “Now the great town of Ngoshe and its large population are left with deep wounds in our hearts. May Allah bring us relief and solution, for only Allah can deliver us. We pray Allah forgives our fallen brothers—soldiers and community members—and grants them Aljannatul Firdausi. May He reward us for what was done to us. Indeed we have been deeply hurt. Allah is sufficient for us.” He also thanked Allah for sparing his life: “Alhamdulillah, Allah we thank You for the protection You gave us; we came out alive. Have mercy on those who lost their lives.”
The attack, one of the deadliest in recent months, saw insurgents overrun a military base, kill several soldiers and civilians (including the Chief Imam), abduct over 100 people (mostly women and children), and burn homes before retreating under air support from Operation Hadin Kai. Thousands fled to Pulka, many sleeping on roadsides and in schools. Aminu’s testimony underscores the trauma endured by survivors amid the persistent Boko Haram threat in North Eastern Nigeria.
