Too many women and girls still face hardship, exclusion, and injustice in silence. Gender justice means creating safer communities where every woman is protected, heard, respected, and given equal opportunity to thrive.

When women have access to dignity, safety, education, and opportunity, communities grow stronger for everyone.

Communities continue to take action against cholera through awareness, hygiene education, and safer water practices.

Prevention starts with information, clean water, and collective responsibility. Every sensitisation session strengthens the fight against the spread of cholera and supports healthier communities.

We went back to a moment that mattered.

Women leaders, civil society organisations, traditional institutions, and community members sat together in Riyom and Jos South.

The focus stayed on leadership, livelihoods, and peaceful coexistence in communities affected by farmer and herder tensions. The “Give to Gain” theme guided conversations on education, resources, and participation in peacebuilding.

Concerns on human trafficking and child labour linked to mining activities came forward, with a call for stronger collaboration.

That moment still shapes the work today.

People showed up. Early mornings. Long days. Quiet effort that keeps communities moving.

From field officers to community leaders, from volunteers to support teams, each role holds weight. Progress in peacebuilding, governance, and community development depends on this steady work. No shortcuts. No noise. Consistent action.

Today recognises the hands behind the outcomes. The patience behind dialogue. The discipline behind every report, meeting, and field visit.

In many communities in Delta State, people face real issues every day.
Poor access to services.
No clear information.
Little involvement in decisions that affect them.

With support from ActionAid Nigeria , the Local Rights Programme is helping change that.
People are learning their rights and starting to speak up and engage those in charge.

Small steps, but real progress.

Before now, many people chose silence. Not because they had nothing to say, but because speaking felt risky.

That is changing.

Across Delta State, people are stepping into conversations they once avoided. They are asking questions, sharing concerns, and paying attention to how decisions are made.

This did not happen by chance. It came from steady engagement, open dialogue, and making information clear and accessible.

And now, you can see the difference.
