𝑺𝙩𝒂𝙜𝒆 𝑯𝙖𝒓𝙗𝒐𝙧 𝙎𝒉𝙤𝒘

Talk about insane color. Every once in a while, we luck out and stumble upon the unexpected. That was the case on this evening at Stage Harbor Light in Chatham, Massachusetts. I was photographing with a good friend when we decided to fly our drones over the “headless” Stage Harbor Lighthouse at sunset.

At first, the prospect for good sunset color looked dim since a dark cloud bank covered the entire western sky without any visible gaps. But as the sun crossed over the horizon, it apparently did enter a gap in the clouds that caused the sun to paint the entire western sky in crimson hues.

I quickly moved the drone around to capture various compositions including this one with a colorful reflection upon the water. The color only lasted about ten minutes before fading to gray. Photographers cherish rare moments like this when the colors are so vibrant that they don’t seem to be real. Yet they are.
