RIVERS LG POLLS:
OBASI UCHECHUKWU NNABUIKE EMERGES APC FLAG BEARER FOR OMUMA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

In preparation for the 2025 Local Government Elections in Rivers State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully concluded its primary elections for Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in Omuma Local Government Area.

Hon. Obasi Uchechukwu Nnabuike, a seasoned politician and former legislator, has emerged as the APC Chairmanship candidate for Omuma LGA. In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Nnabuike assured the people of Omuma of responsive and inclusive governance, promising to prioritize development and deliver good governance if elected on 30th August 2025.

Mrs Justina Achinihi was selected as his running mate, while ten Councillorship candidates emerged to represent the ten political wards in the LGA.

The primary election was conducted in accordance with the electoral guidelines and was duly monitored by officials of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant authorities.

Just In: Rivers Administrator, Ibas Appears Before Senate

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has arrived at the Senate for the hearing on the ₦1.48 trillion budget of the state.

Ibas was accompanied by other key officials, including members of the economic team to appear before Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Emergency Rule in Rivers State.

The Senate had weeks ago reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the people of Rivers State were not shortchanged following the declaration of emergency rule by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025.

CONDOLENCE VISIT:
RT. HON. CHISOM NWAIWU LEADS OMUMA DELEGATION TO COMMISERATE WITH MR. GIFT OKERE AND HON. PRINCE AGU

The former Executive Chairman of Omuma Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Christian Chisom Nwaiwu, JP, DSSRS, on Tuesday, led a delegation of Omuma people to Egbelu Community, Umuajuloke, to commiserate with Mr. Gift Okere, Personal Assistant to Hon. Kelechi Nwogu, following the passing of his beloved mother, Late Mrs. Priscilla Okere.

Speaking during the condolence visit, Rt. Hon. Nwaiwu encouraged the bereaved family to take solace in God, who alone understands the end from the beginning. He described the late matriarch as a woman of honour and prayed for God’s strength upon the family during this period of grief.

Accompanying him was the State Auditor of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Philip Onyeche, who noted that death is a universal and inevitable reality. He urged the family not to mourn like those without hope, affirming the Christian belief in resurrection and eternal life.

The delegation also paid a condolence visit to the family of Hon. Prince Agu, who recently lost his mother, Late Mrs. Evelyn Agughara. Addressing the Agughara family, both Rt. Hon. Nwaiwu and Hon. Onyeche offered words of comfort and encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith, trusting God for healing and strength.

These visits reflect the deep-rooted values of solidarity, compassion, and community spirit for which the people of Omuma are known.
