Non-Responsive eBook Design
📝 Mistake: A layout that doesn’t adjust across devices.
✅ Fix: Use tools like Vellum or Atticus to ensure your book looks great everywhere.
Inconsistent Chapter Breaks
📝 Mistake: Random or missing chapter breaks.
✅ Fix: Start each chapter on a new page and use consistent breaks in digital formats.

It’s not just about word order on the page—it’s about the interplay of design, layout, and structure that works together to make reading feel more descending.
Here’s why it matters:
Easy navigation: Correct headings, chapter breaks, and page numbers allow readers to navigate around your book.
Visual appeal: A structured, consistent format is more welcoming. You certainly don’t want to deal with weird spacing or tiny fonts either!
Professionalism: It indicates you’re concerned for the reader’s experience and that you went the extra mile to make your book the best it could be.
Engagement: Readers can get lost in the story (instead of struggling with bad formatting) and are therefore more likely to read on!

✨ Formatting Challenges of the Day ✨
Formatting can be straightforward, but sometimes it can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re dealing with niches like cookbooks.
You have to make sure the layout is perfectly aligned, and the images are high quality. 📐✨
Recently, I took on the challenge of formatting a cookbook with 85 recipes. It was a big project with tons of moving parts: from manuscript editing, to aligning the layout perfectly, to making sure each recipe and image looked flawless. 📸✨
And, of course, every client has their own unique vision for their cookbook design, so making sure it aligned with their preferences was key. But here’s where things got tricky... 😬
The unexpected happened...
Guess what? 🤔
While I was in the process of saving the initial file to send to my client to review, the file got wiped out due to a system error. 😱💻
I was devastated and frustrated. All that I had been working on was gone in an instant because of a system error. But I never gave up. 💪
I explained the situation to my client and told him that within a few weeks, I would get everything done. ⏳ Although he was frustrated at first, he understood later on and even supported me by providing some quality images to use.
Sincerely speaking, I was even doubting myself.
Day and night, I started over. I had the draft saved already, along with the images, so it made the process much easier. 🌙🌞
After some weeks of sleepless nights, I finally got it done. We worked on publishing it, and boom—the book went live on Amazon.com! 🚀📖
That was a huge success. 🎉
