FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE, ZONE E IMO COMMAND RESPONDS TO FIRE OUTBREAK; SAVES PROPERTY WORTH ₦900,000,000
The Federal Fire Service, Zone E Imo State Command, swiftly responded to a fire outbreak on June 5, 2026, at about 07:39hrs. The incident took place at Celebrity Lodge Umuerim Nekede, Owerri, Imo State.
The fire call was reported by an DSF Okorie. It is a fire involving four self contained rooms on the right wing on the last floor of a two storey building on an area measuring approximately 100m by 25m used for student lodge.
Thanks to the prompt intervention of our gallant officers led by DSF Onyeneke, the fire was quickly brought under control using one medium jet of water and foam from the fire appliance. Although property worth about ₦10,000,000 was destroyed, the timely response of the Firefighters saved property valued at approximately ₦900,000,000. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident.
The Federal Fire Service, Imo State Command, remains committed to protecting lives and property in line with its vision of producing proficient firefighters and its mission to ensure safety through effective fire prevention and mitigation.

The Federal Fire Service Zone E Headquarters, Imo State Command, participated in a one-day sensitization seminar on proactive disaster management strategies for members of the Local Emergency Management Committees across the 27 Local Government Areas and other stakeholders.
The seminar was organized by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to strengthen disaster preparedness, response coordination, and emergency management at the grassroots level.

The Federal Fire Service, Zone E Imo State Command, swiftly responded to a fire outbreak on May 28, 2026, at about 10:45hrs. The incident took place at Eze Nze Francis Elendu Agunwah Palace, Umunkwo Obazu Mbieri Mbaitoli L.G.A Imo State.
The fire call was reported by an NSCDC Officer. It is a fire involving the upper floor of five bedroom flat in one storey building on an area measuring 100 by 100 sqmtrs, used for residential purposes.
Thanks to the prompt intervention of our gallant officers led by SF Anowa, the fire was quickly brought under control using two medium jet of water from the fire appliance. Although property worth about ₦20,000,000 was destroyed, the timely response of the Firefighters saved property valued at approximately ₦900,000,000. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident.

Federal Fire Service Imo State Command Sensitizes Public on Extinction Methods
The Federal Fire Service, Imo State Command, held an educative radio programme at Omalicha Radio Station 91.1 FM to enlighten the public on different methods of fire extinction.
The programme was delivered by the Public Relations Officer, DSF Onyeukwu Chioma, who explained the various methods used in extinguishing fire, including cooling, smothering, starvation, and inhibition. She emphasized the importance of understanding the nature of fire before attempting to put it out.
She also spoke on common causes of fire outbreaks, such as bush burning, unattended cooking, open flames, and faulty electrical connections.
According to her, fires spread quickly when safety precautions are ignored and emergency response is delayed.
She advised residents to:
Avoid uncontrolled bush burning
Never leave cooking or fire unattended
Keep flammable materials away from fire
Handle fuel and other flammable items carefully
Report fire outbreaks quickly

Federal Fire Service Imo State Command Marks International Firefighters' Day with Public Safety Sensitization for FOWA Women
In commemoration of International Firefighters' Day, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Imo State Command, DSF Onyeukwu Chioma, sensitized members of the Fire Officers Wives Association (FOWA) on the importance of public safety and fire prevention.
The sensitization programme formed part of activities to mark the global observance, aimed at honoring the bravery and dedication of firefighters while promoting safety awareness in communities.
