In a green valley enclosed between steep mountainsides, the climbing and winter sports capital of the Valais region is also one of Switzerland's great international resorts. Zermatt is dominated by the definitive mountain, the huge and gracefully curved Matterhorn, making almost any angle a postcard view.
You can't drive to Zermatt. The closest you can get by automobile is a large carpark, about five kilometers from the village, to which there are shuttles by electric vehicles. Trains from Brig deposit passengers right in the village; from here, a rack railroad, funicular, and cableways lift visitors to an endless series of panoramic Alpine views, as well as skiing and hiking trails.

There are many places ideal for relaxation, but some truly drift away from the reality. Located in Zwolle in Overijssel nearby Amsterdam, the village of Giethoorn is far more than a small town.
Those who enjoy walking down the Venetian streets covered by water, will definitely be thrilled to be in this fairy tale-like location. In fact, Giethoorn was nicknamed “the Venice of the Netherlands” – and for good reason!
Over 170 small bridges connect the inhabitants of these small islands. During winter, those who are passionate about ice skating can give it a shot anywhere on the “streets.” Besides winter, the only means of transportation are the so-called “whisper boats,” that have noiseless engines.
So, with no traffic or noisy neighbors, what can one hear in Giethoorn?
Due to the fact that nature has been so well preserved over the years, the entire village looks like a giant park – or, more precisely, a botanical garden. Apart from tourists, who are often amazed by the beauty of the place, the only noise is caused by birds and plants swinging as the wind blows.
The wilderness, the peace and the well-preserved nature give this place a surreal appearance. However, there’s yet another impressive factor: most of the houses built in this area resemble the Medieval architecture – from the large windows to the small, pointy roof. Truely it is a charming beauty!!

Life in the Himalayas!!

The mighty Himalayas rise beyond the Indo-Gangetic plain of Northern India, extending through the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to Northeast India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. This entire range of the Himalayan Mountains serves as home to more than 50 million people, with another 450 million settled at the base of it. And this entire population flourishes on the resources that flow from the Himalayas.
