Sunday is a day of worship, reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed hope. It is an opportunity to appreciate Almighty God for His faithfulness, seek His divine guidance, and pray for continued peace, unity, progress, and prosperity in our dear Ondo State, Akure Kingdom, and Nigeria as a whole.

I encourage every citizen to remain steadfast, hopeful, and committed to the ideals of peace, love, unity, and selfless service. Together, we can continue to build stronger communities and support every effort aimed at delivering sustainable development and improving the lives of our people.

As we gather with our families and loved ones in worship today, let us remember those in need, extend compassion to one another, and continue to work collectively for the growth, harmony, and advancement of Ondo State and our beloved Akure Kingdom.

PRESIDENT TINUBU'S MESSAGE TO PROFESSOR WOLE SOYINKA ON HIS 92ND BIRTHDAY

Today, I celebrate a global icon and our nation's literary star, Professor Akinwande Oluwole Babatunde Soyinka, on his 92nd birthday, July 13.

Exceptional individuals like Professor Soyinka do not come often in a generation- men who illuminate the paths for humanity to follow across diverse endeavours, who are not afraid to go against convention, and who do not let the man die in the face of oppression and injustice.

I congratulate this globally celebrated playwright, novelist, poet, essayist, actor, singer, composer, documentarian, and irrepressible advocate of good governance.

I recall his winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986, becoming the first African to win the Prize in that category, as well as many other reputable awards, such as the Benson Medal from the Royal Society of Literature; the Academy of Achievement Golden Plate Award; the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award (Lifetime Achievement); and the Europe Theatre Prize (Special Prize).

I also recall Professor Soyinka's valiant struggle against military dictatorship for decades, and his efforts in the June 12 struggle, for which we were both in the trenches.

Today, I salute one of our nation's living repositories of history, knowledge, and courage. That he is with us is a gift we will always treasure. I thank him for his undying faith in the Nigerian project and wise counsel.

As he marks this birthday, I join the world in celebrating his profound influence on
generations of writers, scholars, and activists, as well as his sacrifices for our nation. I wish "Kongi" many more years in excellent health.

ABEGUNDE JOINS NATIONAL LEADERS AS PBAT DOOR-TO-DOOR MOVEMENT HOLDS OFFICIAL INAUGURATION IN ABUJA

HON. IFEDAYO SUNDAY ABEGUNDE (ABENA), Executive Director, Corporate Services, NDDC, and Asiwaju of Akure Kingdom, attended the Official Inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door National Executives and Public Lecture at the Transcorp Hilton Conference Centre, Abuja.

The event marked the formal inauguration of the leadership of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Door-to-Door Movement, a nationwide political support initiative dedicated to promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The movement is led by High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) as its Grand Patron and Founder.

The public lecture was themed:

"Nigeria: Lessons from the Past, Realities of the Present, and the Renewed Hope for a Greater Future."

In his keynote address, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), who was represented at the event by the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief Kestin Pondi, highlighted what he described as the significant achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, particularly in the South-South region and across Nigeria. According to him, the administration has recorded notable progress in several key areas, including:

Increased crude oil production, strengthening energy security and sustaining peace in the Niger Delta region.

The NELFUND programme, through which over one million students have benefited nationwide, alongside more than 9,000 beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme studying in Nigeria and abroad.

Advancement of State Policing as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria's security architecture and combat non-state actors.

Improvement of Nigeria's ranking on the Henley Passport Index to 88th in the world.

Commencement of two landmark infrastructure projects: the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway and the 750-kilometre Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway.

Increased federal allocations to states, enhancing their capacity for development.

A 66.27% increase in capital inflow into Nigeria.

Reduction of Nigeria's inherited debt from $108 billion to $94 billion.

Record-breaking performance of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, which surpassed the 100,000 All Share Index milestone and briefly emerged as one of the world's best-performing stock markets.

Upgrade of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, into one of the most modern airports in Sub-Saharan Africa, alongside the ongoing overhaul of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Chief Kestin Pondi, speaking on behalf of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), noted that these achievements reflect the Tinubu administration's commitment to economic recovery, infrastructure development, improved security, and sustainable national growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the event, Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde (Abena) expressed confidence in the growing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across the country. He stated that the Niger Delta region remains firmly behind the Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the South-West is equally prepared to deliver overwhelming electoral support for President Tinubu, citing the administration's developmental strides, strategic infrastructure investments, economic reforms, and people-oriented policies as key factors driving public confidence across the nation.

As part of the day's activities, the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, popularly referred to by supporters as "The Uncommon Senate President," commissioned the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement's fleet of luxurious campaign buses following the inaugural ceremony. The commissioning symbolized the movement's readiness to deepen grassroots mobilization and expand nationwide engagement in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

The colourful event attracted distinguished personalities from across Nigeria, including political leaders, members of the National Assembly, traditional rulers, prominent chiefs from the Nigeria, leaders of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, members of the National Working Committee, and other stakeholders under the leadership of the National Chairman.

Hon. Abegunde's participation underscores his continued commitment to supporting initiatives that promote national unity, inclusive development, and the successful implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

A NOBLE HONOUR WELL DESERVED, ABENA CONGRATULATES SEYI TINUBU ON INSTALLATION AS ÒKANLÒMỌ OF YORUBALAND

The NDDC Executive Director of Corporate Services, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde (Abena) has warmly congratulated Barrister Seyi Tinubu on his installation as the Òkanlòmọ of Yorubaland, describing the conferment as a distinguished honour and a recognition of service, character, and commitment to societal advancement.

Abegunde noted that the prestigious traditional title, bestowed by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the Alaafin of Oyo, reflects the confidence and esteem reposed in Barr. Tinubu by the revered Yoruba traditional institution.

He described the ceremony held at the Alaafin’s Palace in Oyo Town as a powerful celebration of culture, heritage, and the enduring values of the Yoruba people.

According to Abegunde, the title of Òkanlòmọ carries profound responsibility, symbolising courage, loyalty, and a call to service.

He expressed confidence that Barr. Seyi tinubu possesses the vision and leadership qualities required to uphold the dignity of the title and contribute meaningfully to unity and progress across Yorubaland and Nigeria.

Abegunde further acknowledged Barr. Tinubu’s consistent engagement with youths and social development initiatives, noting that such efforts align with the essence of the honour conferred upon him.

He wished the new Òkanlòmọ of Yorubaland wisdom, strength, and continued success, expressing optimism that the honour will inspire greater dedication to cultural preservation, community development, and service to humanity.

North will pay Tinubu back in 2027 — Senator Yari

“The message is very clear. The South-West has stood by the North despite all odds; now it’s time for us to pay back, and we will do so.

“President Tinubu fulfilled his promise to former President Buhari. He campaigned in 2019, and God, in His infinite mercy, gave the late president victory.

“Some of us know that without President Tinubu’s plans, financial and other support, the North’s dream of ruling through Buhari might not have been realised.

“The dream of President Buhari to become president in 2015 was fully architected, designed and financed by Tinubu.

“Therefore, we in Northern Nigeria have no option but to follow and fully support him the first time and the second time, by God’s grace.

“We have started seeing what he is doing, and we pray for his success and a better Nigeria during his reign.

“With this chieftaincy title, we are sons of this place, and we will do our best to promote the cultural values of this institution wherever we find ourselves.

“Let me use this opportunity to assure Yorubaland that this is your ambassador.

“I will personally ensure that the North-West, North-Central, North-East and South-West unite and cement this relationship.

“We should not think otherwise about what we have today,” he added.
