Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has reflected on the circumstances surrounding his departure from office in 2015, expressing deep disappointment over the missed opportunities for Nigeria's economic transformation.

"They said I was slow, but under my leadership, Nigeria was among the fastest-growing economies in the world," Jonathan remarked, highlighting the achievements of his administration. "They said I was too slow, yet we built a stable economy where every hardworking Nigerian could afford a bag of rice for Christmas."

Jonathan revealed that his dream of positioning Nigeria as Africa's largest and richest economy was cut short on the night Nigerians voted in the 2015 elections. "On that night, Nigerians made their choice. Their choice broke my heart because I wished they had the foresight to see what was coming in the future," he said, lamenting the reversal of the progress made during his tenure.
