CONCERN MOUNTS OVER ABANDONED COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL PROJECT IN UNYEADA, ANDONI.

Fresh concerns have emerged over the condition of the Community Primary School in Unyeada, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, following the circulation of videos showing the abandoned state of the school project and the impact on pupils in the community.

The project, which was initiated under the administration of the Executive Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Lucky Promise Otuo, has attracted criticism from residents and stakeholders who say the prolonged delay in its completion is affecting the education of children in the area.

Reacting to the development, a social commentator and concerned indigene, Josiah Awajis, expressed sadness over the condition of the school, noting that he had always held the council chairman in high esteem.

According to him, it would have been preferable for the pupils to continue learning in the old dilapidated structures than to have the school demolished for reconstruction and subsequently left abandoned, thereby disrupting academic activities.

"The scenes from the school are heartbreaking. One cannot help but imagine if these were one's own children. Education should never be interrupted for this long," he said.

Josiah also criticized attempts by some individuals to explain the delay through allegations that community leaders diverted funds meant for the project, stating that such claims remain unverified and do not address the immediate plight of the affected pupils.

He further drew comparisons with the administration of former Andoni Local Government Chairman, Hon. Barr. Erastus Awortu, GSSRS, citing the reopening of Ngo General Hospital despite challenges and excuses that had surrounded the facility for years.

According to him, governments should be judged by their ability to provide solutions rather than explanations, especially when the welfare and future of children are at stake.

He lamented that nearly a year after the demolition of the school structures, pupils are still faced with uncertainty regarding their education, stressing that the situation should not be associated with any responsible government.

Josiah called on the relevant authorities to urgently address the issue and ensure the speedy completion of the project, emphasizing that the future of the children must take precedence over politics and blame games.

The condition of the school has continued to generate reactions among residents, with many expressing hope that the authorities will intervene and restore a conducive learning environment for the affected pupils.

9:30am – Body lying in his family house.

10:00am – Funeral Service by the All Saint.

1:00pm – Interment.
