Job Summary
Our client, a provider of renewable and sustainable power solutions based in Victoria Island, is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Electrical Engineer.
Reporting directly to the Project Manager, this hands-on role is critical to the successful ex*****on of our hydro, renewable, and sustainable power construction projects across Lagos State. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing electrical installations, conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting power systems, and ensuring that all site electrical works meet the highest standards of safety and engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Installations & Commissioning
β’ Execute the installation, configuration, and testing of electrical equipment, control panels, wiring systems, and power distribution units at various sustainable energy project sites.
β’ Read, interpret, and accurately follow electrical blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics provided by the design team.
β’ Assist the Project Manager in the final testing and commissioning phases of renewable energy infrastructure.
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
β’ Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on site electrical systems and heavy-duty construction machinery.
β’ Rapidly diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults or malfunctions to minimize project downtime.
β’ Ensure all temporary electrical setups for construction sites are safe, functional, and efficient.
3. Site Support & Collaboration
β’ Work closely with the Project Manager, civil engineers, hydro engineers, and contractors to ensure electrical works are perfectly synchronized with civil and mechanical phases of the project.
β’ Provide technical guidance and supervision to electrical technicians, artisans, and site laborers.
β’ Estimate required materials, cables, and electrical components, ensuring timely requests to the procurement team to avoid project delays.
4. Quality Assurance & HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment)
β’ Ensure strict adherence to local and international electrical safety codes, building regulations, and Duke Energyβs internal HSE policies.
β’ Actively participate in site safety meetings, hazard identification, and risk mitigation strategies to prevent electrical accidents.
β’ Maintain accurate logs, daily work reports, and documentation of all electrical activities, tests, and modifications on site.
Qualifications & Requirements
β’ Education: Minimum of a National Diploma (ND) in Electrical Engineering from a recognized and accredited institution.
β’ Experience: A minimum of three (3) years post-qualification, hands-on experience in electrical engineering, preferably within the heavy construction, power generation, or renewable energy sector.
β’ Professional Membership: Mandatory active membership and/or certification with a recognized engineering professional body, such as the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
β’ Work Mode: Ability and willingness to work full-time on-site across various project locations in Lagos State.
Key Competencies
β’ Technical Proficiency: Strong practical knowledge of low and medium-voltage systems, industrial wiring, and power distribution.
β’ Safety-First Mindset: Uncompromising commitment to electrical safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and zero-harm construction environments.
