Oyo APC in Turmoil: Former Vice-Chairman Slams Endorsement of Sharafadeen Alli

Tension is building within the Oyo chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as internal disagreements take a dramatic turn.

A former Vice-Chairman of the party in the state, Isiaka Alimi, has openly condemned the move to endorse Sharafadeen Alli as the party’s consensus gubernatorial candidate. In a strongly worded reaction, Alimi reportedly went as far as placing a curse on party members who backed the endorsement.

The development highlights deepening divisions within the party, with loyalists and stakeholders appearing split over the choice of candidate ahead of the next governorship race. Observers say such public outbursts could further complicate unity efforts and weaken the party’s chances if not urgently addressed.

As the situation unfolds, attention now turns to party leaders and stakeholders to manage the crisis and prevent further escalation within the ranks

BREAKING: Nigerian Filling Stations Cut Petrol Price to N1,295 Per Litre

Abuja, Nigeria – April 24, 2026 (African News Digest) – Several Nigerian filling stations have reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to N1,295 per litre in a move aimed at attracting more customers.

Checks across parts of Abuja on Friday showed that some stations adjusted their prices downward from N1,330 per litre, representing a reduction of N35.

The price cuts were observed at outlets operated by AA Rano, Ranoil, and Mobil in various locations within the Federal Capital Territory.

The new pricing aligns closely with rates maintained in recent weeks by other major downstream operators, including Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, MRS, Ardova, and NIPCO, which have been dispensing petrol between N1,290 and N1,295 per litre.

Reacting to the development, President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Abubakar Maigandi, said the downward adjustment was driven by market competition.

“It is required to boost patronage,” he stated.

Fuel prices have remained relatively stable since April 9, despite volatility in global crude oil markets triggered by tensions in the Middle East.

As of Friday, international crude benchmarks showed West Texas Intermediate trading at $94 per barrel, while Brent Crude stood at $105 per barrel, amid uncertainty surrounding shipping activities through the Strait of Hormuz.

African News Digest will continue to monitor developments in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
