Big move in energy industry
China has unveiled a coin sized nuclear battery that can deliver up to 50 years of continuous energy without recharging. Developed by Beijing based company Betavolt, the device uses Nickel 63 and a betavoltaic process to convert radioactive decay directly into electricity. Unlike traditional lithium batteries, it does not depend on chemical reactions and is designed to remain stable in extreme temperatures.
According to company reports, the BV100 battery is aimed at low power applications such as medical implants, space technology, and remote sensors. Nuclear batteries have been studied for decades in global research programs, especially in aerospace missions, but this level of miniaturization marks a significant step. Independent scientific validation and long term safety testing will determine its real world impact and adoption.

China launched the uncrewed Shenzhou-22 in just 11 days, delivering an emergency rescue spacecraft to the Tiangong space station after a sudden safety scare.
The rush began when tiny cracks were found in the Shenzhou-20 return capsule’s window, likely from space debris, making it unsafe for the three astronauts to use.
Their original backup craft, Shenzhou-21, had already departed with the previous crew, leaving the new team without any return vehicle or emergency shelter.
The rapid launch highlights China’s rising space capabilities, especially as NASA crews recently faced months-long delays due to Starliner issues.
