đŸ”„ THE WOMAN THEY OVERLOOKED đŸ”„

Episode 14 – When Life Rewrites The Story

And somewhere in the shadows—
Alex and Elizabeth watched.
Their noise fading.
Their schemes failing.

Because some victories—Are quiet.
But undeniable

And Anita’s?
Was just beginning.

Anita held her daughter close, gently rocking her.
“My Precious
” she whispered, brushing her tiny cheek.

Anna leaned beside her, smiling widely.
“She really is,” she said.

Christian stood a little distance away, watching them.
Quiet. Content.
Their eyes met.

“Thank you
” Anita mouthed.

He didn’t speak.
He just nodded.
And somehow—That was enough.
Life didn’t stop.
It shifted.

One evening, Anita sat with her parents.
Precious asleep beside her.
“I want to go back,” she said softly.

Her mother frowned slightly.
“Back where?”

“To school.”

Her father leaned forward.
“For what? You are a graduate.”

“To hone my Public Relations skills, as I have left work for almost 2 years.” Anita replied.

Anna’s eyes widened.
“Finally!” she exclaimed.
“I’ve been waiting for this version of you!”

Anita smiled faintly.
“I’ve been hiding too long,” she admitted.

Her father studied her quietly.
“And Precious?” he asked.

Anita looked down at her daughter.
Her voice softened.
“I’m doing this for her.”

Her mother reached out and held her hand.
“We’ll take care of her,” she said gently.

Anita blinked.
“Really?”

Her father nodded.
“Go and build your life.”

Tears filled her eyes.
“Thank you
”

School wasn’t easy.
Sleepless nights.
Assignments. Pressure.
“Why am I doing this to myself?” she groaned one night, flipping through her notes.

Anna laughed from across the room.
“Because you’re no longer the ‘supporting role’,” she teased.

Anita paused.
Then smiled.
“True. You are right.”

And she pushed harder.
She didn’t just pass.
She excelled.

“Best graduating student?” Anna screamed.

Anita laughed.
“I didn’t see that coming!”
But deep down—She did.
Because this time—She believed in herself.
Instead of job hunting—She made a decision.

“I’ll start small,” she told Christian one evening.

“As what?” he asked.

“An influencer,” she replied.

He raised a brow.
“Seriously.”
He smiled.
“I never doubted that.”

Her first call came unexpectedly.
“Elumelu Group,” the voice said.

Anita froze.
“We are hiring you to handle our campaign,” they added.

Her eyes shifted slowly to Christian.
“You did this?” she whispered.

He raised both hands slightly.
“Not this time.”

She blinked.
“Then
?”

He smiled.
“You’re just that good.”
The campaign exploded.

“Anita! You’re trending again!” Anna shouted excitedly.
But this time—It was different.
“Positive comments!” Anna added quickly.

Anita grabbed the phone.
Scrolled.

Paused.

“They love it
” she whispered.

Christian leaned over slightly.
“I told you.”

One job became two.
Two became many.
“Your strategy is different,” a client said during a meeting.

Anita smiled.
“I focus on connection.”

And it worked.
Within two years—She built her company.
Her own name.
Her own brand.

“Anita PR & Strategy,” Anna read aloud proudly.

Anita laughed.
“I did it
”

Christian stood behind her.
“You always could.”

One quiet evening—He called her.
“Can you step outside?”

Anita frowned.
“Now?”

“Yes.”

She stepped out.
And froze.
Lights.
Flowers.
A soft setup.

“Christian
” she whispered.

He walked toward her slowly.
Then—Knelt.
“Will you marry me?”

Her breath caught.
Tears filled her eyes instantly.
“Yes
” she whispered.
Then louder—“Yes!”

He smiled.
Slipped the ring in.
And pulled her into a hug.

Their wedding?
Nothing like before.
No pressure. No pain.
Just love.
Pure. Real.
Chosen.

“You look happy,” Anna whispered during the reception.

Anita smiled.
“I am.”

Christian walked up behind her.
“And it shows.”

Somewhere else—
Things were different.
“Another client left?” Alex asked, frustrated.

Elizabeth slammed her laptop shut.
“They’re overreacting!”

“Or maybe,” Alex snapped,
“They’re tired of the drama!”

She turned sharply.
“This is your fault!”

“My fault?” he laughed bitterly.
“You started all this!”

Silence.
Heavy.
“What about the baby?” Elizabeth said suddenly.

Alex’s face darkened.
“What baby?” he replied coldly.

The room fell silent again.
Their world—Slowly crumbling.

“Why is nothing working?” Elizabeth whispered.

Alex looked away.
Because deep down—They both knew.
You can’t build peace—On stolen ground.

Back in Anita’s world—Peace existed.
Not perfect. But real.
She held Precious one evening.
Christian beside her.

“We made it
” she whispered.

Christian smiled.
“No,” he said softly.
“We’re just starting.”

Anita leaned into him.
For once—No fear.
No doubt.
Just
 peace.

Then—
Her phone buzzed.
She glanced at the screen casually.
Then paused.
Her expression changed.

“Who is it?” Christian asked.

Anita didn’t respond immediately.
Her fingers tightened slightly around the phone. Her brows furrowed.
“That name
” she whispered.

Christian leaned closer.
“What name?”

Anita looked up slowly.
Her heart beating faster.
“It’s
 from the past...”

Episode 13 – When Grace Speaks Louder than Noise

Because something in that tone

Didn’t sound like the Elizabeth she knew.

It sounded like

Something worse.
And Anita could feel it.

“Elizabeth
”

The name alone tightened something inside Anita’s chest.

“I think it’s time we talk,” Elizabeth’s voice came again—smooth, controlled
 dangerous.

Anita closed her eyes briefly.
Then opened them.
Steady. “There’s nothing to talk about,” she said calmly.

A soft laugh echoed from the other end.
“Oh, Anita
 there’s everything to talk about.”

Anita didn’t respond.

“You’re carrying Alex’s child,” Elizabeth continued. “And yet
you’re playing house with another man.”

Christian’s expression hardened slightly beside her.
Anita’s voice dropped.
Cold. “I owe you no explanation.”

“Really?” Elizabeth’s tone sharpened.
“Because from where I stand
 you look desperate.”

Silence.

Anita inhaled slowly.
“I’m keeping my child,” she said.
Clear. Unshaken.

“And Alex?”
Elizabeth pressed.
“He's no longer part of my life.”

A pause.

Then—
“We’ll see about that,” Elizabeth said quietly.

The call ended.

“What did she say?” Christian asked.

Anita looked at him.
“She’s not done and I don’t know what they are planning.”

Christian nodded slowly.
“Neither are we, we will counter any of their moves.”

Days turned into weeks.
Calls came.
Messages with threats.
Voicemails.

“Anita, let’s talk—” Alex’s voice.
“Think about the future—” again.
“I can take care of everything
”

Each time, Anita reply—

“No.”

Firm.
Consistent.
Unmoved.

“I said no, Alex,” she said one evening, her voice steady. “Respect it.”

“You’re being emotional,” he argued.

“No,” she replied calmly.
“I’m being clear.”

Click. Ended the call.
And Blocked Alex number.

When persuasion failed—They changed tactics. The internet exploded. Calling her all sorts of names.

“She trapped two men!”
“Gold digger!”
“Shameless!”

Anita sat on her bed, phone in hand.
Reading.
Scrolling.
Breaking.

“I didn’t do anything wrong
” she whispered.
Tears slid down quietly.
“I just wanted to love
 and be loved.”

Anna wrapped her arms around her tightly.
“You didn’t lose,” Anna whispered.
“They’re just loud.”

Christian walked in one evening.
Saw her. Curled up.
Broken.
“Hey
” he said softly.

She looked up.
Eyes red.
“I’m tired
” she whispered.

He sat beside her.
“Then rest,” he said.

She shook her head.
“Not that kind of rest. They won’t let me be...”

Christian exhaled slowly.
“Then I will.”

She blinked.
“What?”

“I’ll stand in front of you,” he said quietly.
“Let them come through me first.”

Something inside her softened.
“You don’t have to do this
”

“I know,” he replied.

A pause.

“But I want to.”

Christian’s family stepped in to shield Anita.
Publicly.
Firmly.

“This narrative is false.”
His grandfather’s voice carried weight.
“Anita is under our protection, any negative news will carry penalties.”

Silence followed.
Then—
Respect.
Fear.
Distance.

The noise didn’t stop completely.
But it reduced.
Because now—She wasn’t alone.

Months passed.
Anita began to overcome Pain from heartbreak.
Her fear fuel her strength and she began to develop her Public Relations skills and Grow.

Each kick from the baby reminded her—
“I chose you,” she whispered one night, rubbing her belly.
“And I will always choose you.”

Christian sat beside her.
Watching.
Quiet.
“You talk to her a lot,” he said softly.

Anita smiled faintly.
“She listens.”

He hesitated.
Then placed his hand gently over hers.
“So do I.”

Their eyes met.
Something unspoken passed between them.
Not rushed.
Not forced.
Real.

Labor came like a storm.

“Ahh!” Anita cried out, gripping the hospital bed.

“I’m here!” Anna shouted, holding her hand.

Christian stood on the other side.
“Breathe, Anita
 you’ve got this
”

“I can’t!” she cried.

“Yes, you can,” he said firmly.
“You’ve come this far.”

Tears streamed down her face.
“I’m scared
”

Christian leaned closer.
“You’re not alone.”

Hours later—
A cry filled the room.
Sharp.
Beautiful. Alive.

Anita froze.
“Is
is she okay?” she whispered weakly.

The nurse smiled.
“She’s perfect.”

They placed the baby gently in her arms.
Anita looked down.
And everything

Stopped.

“Hi
” she whispered, tears falling freely now.
The baby moved slightly.
Tiny.
Beautiful.
“My daughter
”

Christian watched Silently.

Days later—Family gathered.
Laughter returned.
Soft.
Healing is taking place.

“What will we call her?” Anna asked excitedly.

Anita smiled.
Looking at Christian.
“You choose,” she said quietly.

He blinked.
“Me?”

She nodded.
“You’ve been here
 through everything.”

Christian looked at the baby.
Then back at Anita.
A soft smile formed.
“Precious,” he said.

Silence.

Then—
Smiles.
“Precious
” Anita repeated softly.
Tears filled her eyes again.

“Because that’s what she is,” Christian added.

Far away—Screens still flickered.
Voices still whispered.
But they didn’t matter anymore.

Because Anita—
Was no longer the girl who needed validation.
She had faced betrayal.
Humiliation.
Pain.

And still—
She stood. Not broken.
But rebuilt. Stronger.

With her daughter in her arms.
Her family beside her.
And a man who chose to stay—Not out of obligation. But out of truth.

And somewhere in the shadows—
Alex and Elizabeth watched.
Their noise fading.
Their schemes failing.
Because some victories—Are quiet.
But undeniable

Episode 12 – When The Past Come Knocking

Anita frowned.

“That number
” she whispered.
Her heart skipped.
Slowly—She picked up the call.

“Hello
?”

Silence.

Anita frowned slightly, pulling the phone away to check the screen again.

“Hello?” she repeated.

Then—
A voice.
Low. Familiar.
“Anita
”

Her entire body went still.
That voice. Her fingers tightened around the phone.

“
Alex?” she whispered.
Beside her, Christian’s expression changed instantly. Staying Sharp and Alert.

“Yes
” Alex’s voice came again, softer this time. “I’ve been trying to reach you.”

Anita swallowed. Hard.
“Why?” she asked.
Her tone
 controlled.

A pause.

Then—
“I heard
” He hesitated.
“I heard you’re pregnant.”

Anita let out a quiet, almost bitter laugh.
“News travels fast,” she said.

Christian’s jaw tightened slightly, but he remained silent beside her.
Listening and Watching.

“Is it true?” Alex asked.

Anita closed her eyes briefly.
“Yes.”

Silence.
On both ends.

Then— “Is it
 mine?”

The question dropped like a stone.
Heavy. Unavoidable.
Anita’s chest tightened.
For a second—She couldn’t breathe.

“Yes.”

The word came out before she could stop it.
Soft. But firm.
Christian looked at her.
Not shocked.
Just
 still.

On the other end—Alex exhaled sharply.
“I knew it
” he muttered.

Anita’s brows furrowed.
“You knew?” she repeated.

“I’ve been thinking about that night,” he said.

Anita’s grip tightened.
“What do you want, Alex?” she asked, her voice now firmer.

“I need to see you,” he replied quickly.

“No.”
The answer came instantly.

“Anita, please—”

“No,” she repeated.
Stronger this time.
“You don’t get to call me now,” she continued, her voice shaking slightly. “Not after everything.”

“It’s not what you think,” Alex rushed out.

Anita laughed.
Her laugh was Dry.
Empty, without feeling.
“Really?” she said.
“Because what I saw was very clear.”

“Elizabeth—” he started.

“Don’t,” Anita cut him off sharply.
“Don’t say her name.”

Silence

“I made a mistake,” he said finally.

Anita’s eyes filled.
“A mistake?” she whispered.

Christian shifted slightly closer to her.
Not touching her, but present.

“You didn’t just make a mistake, Alex,” Anita continued. “You made a choice.”
Her voice broke slightly—
But she held it together.
“You chose her.”

“I was confused!” he snapped.

“And now?” she fired back.

Silence.

“I want to fix this,” he said quietly.

Anita blinked.
“Fix
 what exactly?” she asked.

“Our family,” he said.

The word hit her like a slap.
“Family?” she repeated.

“Yes,” he said quickly.
“We can still make this right.”

Anita let out a slow breath.
“You’re married, Alex.”

Another silence.
“It’s complicated,” he muttered.

Anita shook her head slowly.
“No
 it’s actually very simple.”
Her voice steadied now. Clear.
“You married her.”

Christian’s eyes remained fixed on her.
Something unreadable flickering in them.

“And I’m having your child,” she added.
Another pause.

“Then let me take responsibility,” Alex said.

Anita froze.
“Responsibility?” she repeated.

“Yes,” he said quickly.
“I’ll take care of you
 the baby
 everything.”

A tear slipped down her cheek.
But this time—It wasn’t from weakness.
“No.”
The word was quiet. But final.

“Anita—”

“No,” she said again.
“You lost that right the moment you walked away from me, so deal with your choice.”

Silence.

“I don’t need you,” she continued.
“And my child doesn’t need confusion.”

Alex exhaled slowly.
“So that’s it?” he asked.

Anita nodded, even though he couldn’t see her.
“That’s it.”

She ended the call.
Her hand dropped slowly to her side.
Silence surrounded them.
Then—She exhaled shakily.

“I didn’t think he would call
” she whispered.

Christian looked at her.
“Are you okay?”

Anita laughed softly.
“I don’t even know what okay feels like anymore.”
A pause. Then she looked at him.
“He wants to come back.”

Christian’s jaw tightened slightly.
“And you? Do you still care about him?” he asked.

Anita shook her head.
“No.”
Her voice was steady now.
“I’ve already lost myself once.”
She placed a hand gently on her stomach.
“I won’t lose myself again.”

Christian nodded slowly.
“Good.”
Silence fell again.
But this time—
It felt different.
Stronger.

Then—
Her phone buzzed again. Anita frowned.
“Another unknown number?” she whispered.

Christian glanced at her.
“Pick it.”

She hesitated.
Then slowly—Answered.

“Hello
?”
A woman’s voice came through.
Cold. Sharp.
“So
 you finally picked.”

Anita’s heart skipped.

“I’ve been looking for you,” the voice continued.

Anita’s brows furrowed.
“Who is this?” she asked.

A soft laugh echoed from the other end.
“You don’t recognize my voice?”

A pause.
Then—
“Elizabeth.”
Everything inside Anita—Went still.

“I think it’s time we talk,” Elizabeth said calmly.

Anita’s fingers tightened around the phone.
Her heart pounding.
Because something in that tone

Didn’t sound like the Elizabeth she knew.

It sounded like

Episode 11 – The Day of Open Truth

No one answered.
No one had moved.

Because deep down—They all knew.
Truth

Could destroy everything.
Or change it forever

The room was still heavy with uncertainty.

Then—
Christian reached for Anita’s hand.
He didn’t rush it. He didn’t hesitate.
He simply interlocked his fingers with hers.
Firm. Certain.
“We will do it,” he said.

Anita turned sharply to look at him.
Her heart skipped.
“Christian
” she whispered.

He leaned closer, his voice dropping just for her.
“Grandpa said something,” he murmured.

Anita blinked.
“What?”

“He said
he was glad I finally found someone real.”

Her breath caught.
Christian’s eyes held hers.
Unwavering.
“He saw the pictures from the wedding,” he continued softly,
“And the way I looked at you
”
He paused slightly. “He said it looked genuine.”

Anita’s heart began to race.
Faster. Louder.
“But
will he accept the truth?” she whispered quickly. “Or will he think I deceived you—”

“Hey
” Christian cut in gently.
She stopped.
“No negativity,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “Just believe the best outcome.”

Anita exhaled slowly.
Trying to be calm. Really trying.

The next morning came too quickly.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to follow you?” Anna asked, adjusting Anita’s dress nervously.

Anita smiled faintly. “No need.”

Anna frowned.
“It’s a big house. Big people. Big pressure.”

Anita chuckled softly.
“It’s also a simple truth.”

Anna sighed.
“Still
I don’t trust rich families, they can be unpredictable.”

Anita laughed.
“I’ll be fine.”

Anna held her hand tightly.
“If anything goes wrong—”

“It won’t,” Anita said quietly.
A pause.
Then she added— “It’s either yes
 or no.”

When they got to Christian Elumelu’s home, the gates alone told a story.
Anita swallowed as the car drove in slowly.
“This place
” she whispered.

Christian glanced at her.
“Too late to run.”

She managed a small smile.
“I wasn’t planning to.”

They stepped inside.
And Anita froze.
People
 So many people.
Her eyes moved quickly.
His parents. Just arriving.
Elegant. Sharp.

His grandfather.
Calm. Observing.
His grandmother.
Soft. Watchful.

Another man—Younger. Confident.
“Marcus,” Christian said quietly beside her.
“My cousin.”

Marcus nodded at her with a small smile.

“This is serious
” Anita whispered under her breath.

Christian squeezed her hand slightly.
“I’m here, no one can bully you.”

“Welcome,” the grandfather said, his voice steady.

Anita stepped forward slightly.
“Good afternoon, sir.”

“Sit,” he instructed.

She obeyed.
Her heart pounding loudly in her chest.

“This meeting,” he continued,
“is about your engagement with my grandson
”
He paused.
“
and your pregnancy.”

The room fell silent.
Anita looked around.
Faces.
Expectations.
Judgment. Curiosity.

Then—Something inside her settled.
She straightened slightly.
And spoke. “Christian is not the father of my child.”

Silence.
Complete.

“What?!” voices echoed.
Shock written on their faces.

His mother’s hand flew to her chest.
Marcus leaned forward slightly.
The grandfather’s gaze sharpened.

“Is she telling the truth?” he asked, turning to Christian.

Christian cleared his throat.
“Yes.”

Another wave of silence.

His mother stood up slightly.
“Then what are you doing with her?!” she demanded.

Christian didn’t flinch.
“I’m with her because of the publicity,” he said calmly. “But not in the way you think.”

Anita glanced at him.

“She is my friend,” he continued. “Nothing romantic.”

His father frowned.
“Then those pictures?”

Christian sighed slightly.
“The press exaggerated everything.”
He looked at Anita briefly.
“I like her,” he added honestly. “She’s genuine.”

Anita’s heart skipped again.

“She told me the truth about her pregnancy,” he continued. “She didn’t hide anything.”

His father’s voice lowered.
“Then why make us believe she’s your fiancĂ©e?”

Christian’s tone hardened slightly.
“Because the world already decided it, the press wrote out of context.”

Silence.

“And I chose to stand by her,” he added.
“Instead of letting her be destroyed.”

The room shifted.
The grandfather leaned forward slightly.
“Does the father of the child know?” he asked.

Anita spoke this time.
“No.”

Everyone turned to her.

“And he won’t,” she added firmly.
Her voice didn’t shake.
“He’s married to my former best friend.”

A murmur moved through the room.

“I will raise my child,” Anita continued.
“Alone, if I have to.”

She paused.
Then looked at Christian.
“You can stop coming to see me now,” she said softly. “I don’t want to cause more misunderstanding between you and your family.”

Christian’s head snapped toward her.
“What? Why?” he said sharply.

“You’ve done enough, by shielding me all along.” she continued gently.

“No,” he said firmly.
The room stilled again.
“You cannot leave me, it’s my choice to be your friend in this your weak moment.”

Anita blinked.

“I’m serious,” he added. “This truth stays here.”
His voice lowered slightly.
“No one outside this room hears it.”
Everyone watched him.
“You’re my friend,” he said.
“And that doesn’t change.”

Silence.

Then—The grandfather spoke.
“I support his decision.”

Heads turned.
“Why?” Marcus’ mother asked, surprised.

The old man leaned back.
“Because I have not seen my grandson this alive in years.”

Anita’s breath caught.

“I saw joy,” he continued.
“Real joy, when he is with Anita.”
He looked at Anita.
“You are welcome here anytime.”

Her eyes widened slightly.

“After the child is born,” he added,
“You will decide your path, either to continuing being friends with Christian.”

Anita swallowed.
“I
” she whispered.
She looked at Christian.
Then back at the grandfather.
“Thank you, sir.”

Later—
Outside the house—
Anita exhaled deeply.
“I didn’t expect that
” she said softly.

Christian looked at her.
“Neither did I.”

She laughed lightly.
“Imagine if I didn’t tell the truth
”
He nodded slowly.
“Things would have been different.”

Silence settled between them.
But this time— It wasn’t heavy.
It was uncertain.
Because something had changed.
Not just outside.
But between them.

And Anita could feel it.
That line

Between friendship and something more—
Had just become
 Blurred.
She turned to him slowly.
“Christian
”

He looked at her.
“Yes?”

She hesitated.
Just for a second.
Then her phone buzzed.
Both of them glanced down.

Anita frowned.
“That number
” she whispered.
Her heart skipped.
Slowly—She picked up the call.
“Hello
?”

Episode 10 – When Truth Demands a Voice

But somehow

He was changing everything.

And Anita could feel it.
Her life was no longer falling apart.
It was
 Shifting

Christian’s grandfather didn’t blink.
Not once. His dark-brown eyes rested on Anita like he was reading a book he had waited too long to open.
“Christian has spoken much about you,” he said calmly.

Anita swallowed.
That’s not true
 she thought.
But she smiled politely.

“A fashion
 wedding-dress saleswoman, correct?”

“Yes, sir,” she replied softly.

“Interesting,” he murmured, lifting his glass slightly.
“You must have seen many happy brides over the years.”

Anita hesitated.
Then before she could stop herself—
“And a few not so happy
” she said quietly.

Silence.
She blinked.
“Oh
 I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to—”

“Go on,” the old man said, his voice suddenly interested.

Anita took a breath.
“Sometimes
the perfect dress doesn’t guarantee a perfect marriage.”

A pause.
Something flickered in his eyes.
Approval.
“Christian,” he said without looking away from her, “get her a glass of our 2018 Chardonnay.”

Christian hesitated briefly.
His eyes met Anita’s.
A silent question.
She gave the smallest nod.
“Of course,” he replied.

As he walked away, Anita felt it again.
That gaze. Heavy.
Searching.
“So
” the grandfather leaned back slightly.
“How did you two meet?”

Anita opened her mouth.
Then froze.
“I
” she started.

“Through work,” Christian’s voice cut in smoothly as he returned.

Anita exhaled quietly.
Saved.

“Ah,” the old man nodded slowly.
“That explains your composure.”

Dinner was served.
Questions flowed from grandpa.
Anita answered carefully.
Careful glances. Hidden truths.

Then suddenly—
“We cannot waste time,” the grandfather said firmly.

Christian stiffened slightly.

“Given the publicity
” the old man continued,
“the wedding must hold within three months.”

Anita’s heart skipped.
“What?” she whispered.

Christian turned to him quickly.
“Grandpa
” he said calmly.
“That won’t be possible.”

The old man frowned.
“And why not?”

Christian glanced at Anita.
Then back at him.
“I need time,” he said simply.
“To know her. To understand her make up.”

Silence.

“She is not like others,” he added.
“She needs space to adjust
especially with this level of attention, she is getting now.”

The grandfather studied Christian.
Long. Deep.
Then sighed.
“Fine,” he said reluctantly.
“But not too long.”

Anita exhaled slowly.
Days turned into weeks.
Weeks into months.
And somehow

Christian stayed, he became her closest friend.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked one afternoon at the park.
Anita smiled faintly.
“I’m getting used to people staring and watching my every step.”

He frowned.
“They shouldn’t.”

She shrugged.
“They will.”

He looked at her.
“You’re stronger than you think.”

Anita laughed softly.
“I don’t feel strong.”

“Then lean on me,” he said.

And she did.
As they walk having quiet conversations.
People whispered, calling her.

“Gold digger
”
“She trapped him
”
“She doesn’t belong there
”
Anita heard it all.
But she endured.
Because she knew the truth.

“There’s nothing romantic between us,” she told Anna one night.

Anna raised a brow.
“Are you sure about that?”

Anita paused.
Then shook her head.
“Yes
 I’m sure.”
But her voice wasn’t as convincing.

By the second trimester—
She couldn’t hide it anymore.
Her belly curved gently.
Visible. Real.
She stood in front of the mirror.
Touching it lightly.
“Hello
” she whispered.
A small smile formed.

But outside?
The world had seen it.
And the world reacted.
“Anita you are trending again!” Anna shouted, rushing into the room.

Anita’s heart dropped.
“What now?” she asked weakly.

Anna showed her the phone.
Pictures. Videos of her belly, showing her baby bump.

“Oh God
” Anita whispered.
It spread fast. Too fast.
Then came the storm.
Christian’s family found out.

“Christian!” his grandfather’s voice thundered over the phone.
His parents called.
From abroad. Angry.
Demanding.

“You must marry her immediately!” his mother insisted.
“To protect the family name!”

The pressure mounted.
From every angle.
Online—
It got worse.

“She trapped him!”
“She planned this!”
“Gold digger from nowhere!”

Anita sat quietly.
Reading.Breaking.
Then—
The final blow.
A live video showing Elizabeth.
And Alex.

“Some people have no dignity,” Elizabeth said with a soft laugh.

Alex shook his head.
“I made the right choice,” he added.

“She’s always been desperate,” Elizabeth continued.
“Coming from nothing
 she saw an opportunity.”

Anita dropped the phone.
Her hands trembled.
“I can’t do this
” she whispered.

Anna hugged her tightly.
“You won’t go through this alone.”

Christian stood nearby.
Silent. Angry.
Controlled.
“I won’t let them destroy you,” he said quietly.

Her parents stood firm.
“My daughter is not alone,” her father said.

That night—
They all sat together.
Heavy. Tense.
Then—
Her father spoke.
“We cannot continue like this.”

Everyone looked at him.
“What do you mean?” her mother asked.

He exhaled slowly.
“We tell the truth.”

Silence

Christian’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“What truth?” he asked carefully.

Her father turned to him.
“The truth about the pregnancy.” and
“That you are not responsible.”

Anita’s heart stopped.
The room froze.

“That this
” her father continued,
“is not what the world thinks it is.”

Christian didn’t speak.
Anita’s breath hitched.
“Daddy
” she whispered.

Her father looked at her.
“We cannot build peace on a lie.”

Silence.
Heavy.
Dangerous.

Christian’s jaw tightened.
“Do you understand what that means?” he asked quietly.

Her father nodded.
“Yes.”

“And are you ready for what comes after?” Christian added.

No one answered.
Because deep down—They all knew.
Truth

Could destroy everything.
Or change it forever.

And standing at the edge of it—Was Anita.
Her heart pounding.
Her world is trembling.

As she whispered to herself—
“What happens
when the truth finally comes out???”

đŸ”„ THE WOMAN THEY OVERLOOKED đŸ”„

Episode 9 – An Anchor

“It’s Trending,” he said simply.

Anita’s lips parted slightly.
“My God
” she whispered.

Her hands trembled as she stared at the screen. Seeing their pictures.
Moments of excitement.
A night that was supposed to save her from shame
 now everywhere.
“What is happening to my life
?” she whispered.

Christian watched her quietly.
Not amused. Not surprised. Just
 observant.
“Come,” he said gently.
“Let’s get out of here.”

“I can’t just leave,” Anita replied weakly.
“My boss—”

“Anita!” her boss called excitedly from behind.

Both of them turned.

“This is the best sale we’ve had this month!” her boss beamed.
“That gown alone has made up for most losses? Incredible!”

Anita blinked. Still trying to catch up.

“You’ve done well,” her boss continued happily.
“You can take the rest of the day off.”

Anita frowned slightly.
“Ma, I can still—”

“No, no,” her boss waved her off.
“Go and rest. You deserve it.”

Christian glanced at Anita.
A small knowing smile forming.
“Perfect timing,” he murmured.

Minutes later—They were seated in a quiet cafĂ©.

Anita wrapped her hands around her cup.
Trying to steady herself.
“Okay
” she exhaled slowly.
“Start talking.”

Christian leaned back slightly.
Studying her. “Tell me about Alex.”

Anita froze.
Then frowned.
“Excuse me?” she asked.

“Your ex,” he said calmly.

Anita let out a short laugh.
Disbelieving. “Are you serious right now?”

“Yes.”

“What does Alex have to do with you?” she asked, her voice rising slightly.

Christian didn’t flinch.
“In order to understand you,” he said,
“I need to understand what broke you two.”

Silence.

Anita shook her head slowly.
“I think you have too much free time,” she said.
“Because this question
 is unnecessary.”

She looked away.
Her voice softer now.
“I’m not in the mood to talk about betrayal.”

A pause.

Christian leaned forward slightly.
“Then tell me what you’re going through.”

Anita didn’t respond immediately.
Her fingers tightened around the cup.
Her eyes dropped.
“I
” she started.
Then stopped.

“Anita,” he said gently.

She inhaled deeply.
“I’m pregnant.”

Silence.

For a brief second—Christian’s expression shifted. Showing shock...
But it disappeared just as quickly.

“Oh
” he said quietly.

Anita nodded.
Her voice barely there.
“Four weeks.”

Christian leaned back slowly.
Taking it in.
“And the father?” he asked carefully.

Anita let out a bitter smile.
“You already know.”

He nodded once.
“And what are you going to do?”

Anita placed her hand lightly on her stomach.
“I’m keeping it.”

Christian watched her.
Something in his eyes softened.
“You’re strong,” he said quietly.

Anita laughed softly.
“No
 I’m just tired of losing.”

Silence settled between them again.
But this time—It wasn’t heavy.
It was thoughtful.

Then suddenly—
Christian spoke.
“Let’s go to your house.”

Anita blinked.
“My house?” she asked.

“Yes.”

“Why?” she frowned.

He stood up calmly.
“You’ll find out.”

Moments later—They arrived.

Anita’s parents were surprised to see her back so soon.
Even more surprised to see him.

“Good afternoon,” Christian greeted politely.

Her father nodded slowly.
“Good afternoon
”

Anita looked confused.
“Christian, what is going on?” she whispered.

He stepped forward.
Calm. Direct.
“I would like to marry your daughter.”

Silence.
Her mother gasped softly.

Anita’s eyes widened.
“What?” she whispered.

Her father stood up immediately.
“No.”
The answer was firm. Instant.

“Sir—” Christian began.

“My daughter is pregnant,” her father cut in.
“And you are not the father.”

Silence.
Christian nodded slowly.
“I know.”

That only made it worse.
“Then why?” her mother asked, confused.

Christian looked at Anita briefly.
Then back at them.
“Because she needs protection.”

The room went quiet.
“From what?” her father asked.

Christian’s voice lowered slightly.
“The world.”
Anita swallowed.
“The press
 the public
people are already talking,” he continued.
“She will be dragged. Judged. Broken again.”

Her mother’s face fell.

“I won’t let that happen to her, not while I am beside her.” he added.

Silence.

Then—He softened his tone.
“If you won’t allow marriage
”
He paused.
“Then allow me to be her friend.”

Anita looked at him.
As if he has grown 2 heads, she really looked at him this time, to understand how his thinking pattern is.
“A friend?” she repeated softly.

He nodded.
“I’ll stand by you.”

Her father exhaled slowly.
“We need time
” he said.

Christian nodded respectfully.
“Please come with me,” he said to Anita gently.

She hesitated.
Then nodded.
The house they arrived at next—Was nothing like she expected.
It wasn’t just big.
It was
 powerful.
“Where are we?” she whispered.

Christian smiled faintly.
“My home.”

Before she could ask more—
An elderly man stepped forward.
“Ah
” he said warmly.
“So this is the young lady.”

Anita blinked.

“Grandpa?” Christian called softly.

The man smiled brightly.
“I have been waiting.”

Anita looked between them.
Confused.
“Waiting?” she asked.

The old man stepped closer.
Studying her. Then smiled.
“You have calm eyes,” he said gently.

Anita blinked.
“Thank you
 sir.”

He chuckled.
“I raised this boy,” he said, pointing at Christian.
“And I have never seen him this relaxed around anyone.”

Anita’s heart skipped slightly.
The old man nodded slowly.
“You must be special.”

Anita didn’t know what to say.
Because for the first time in a long while—
Someone wasn’t seeing her as less.
But as
 something more.
And standing beside her—Was a man she didn’t understand yet.

But somehow

He was changing everything.
And Anita could feel it.

Her life was no longer falling apart.
It was
 Shifting
