American First Lady Melania Trump got a different view of educating children when she visited an African primary school that has benefited from U.S. assistance but struggles with an enrollment of more than 8,500 students. Some children attend lessons outdoors, where they sit shoulder to shoulder on loose, red dirt.
Trump toured several outdoor classrooms at Chipala Primary School in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, the second stop on her four-nation tour of the continent.

Rest in peace
Kofi Annan was born into an aristocratic family in Ghana on April 8, 1938. He attended a number of schools and colleges, studying international relations in the United States and Switzerland, and became an international civil servant working for the United Nations in 1962. He went on to become the U.N. secretary-general and later a special envoy to Syria. Annan died on August 18, 2018 in Switzerland at the age of 80.

Tanzania: Officially the United Republic of Tanzania (Swahili) is a sovereign state in eastern Africa within the African Great Lakes region. It borders Kenya and Uganda to the north; Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west; Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south; and the Indian Ocean to the east. Mountain Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, is in north-eastern Tanzania. The United Republic of Tanzania is the second largest economy in the East African Community and the twelfth largest in Africa.

The Serengeti and Maasai Mara
Many people’s vision of an African safari is the often-promoted Discovery channel scenes in East Africa, in particular the annual wildebeest and zebra migration. This amazing spectacle occurs within the Serengeti and Maasai Mara National Parks – which are only divided by a notional man-made border.
The Tanzanian portion of the park is known as the Serengeti and the Kenyan portion as the Maasai Mara. The migration is a sight to behold, with bleating wildebeest interspersed with more photogenic zebra as far as the eye can see. It is a place you want to be.

According to statistics provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), these are currently, according to the figures provided at the time, the Top 5 richest countries in Africa are:
Nigeria: GDP – $594.257 billion
South Africa: GDP – $341.216 billion
Egypt: GDP – $284.860 billion
Algeria: GDP – $227.802 billion
Morocco: GDP – $112.552 billion
It is so unfortunate that even with all this figures most of African citizens are still wallowing in poverty.

Rwanda is often touted as an example of what African states could achieve if only they were better governed. Out of the ashes of a horrific genocide, President Paul Kagame has resuscitated the economy, curtailed corruption and maintained political stability.
This is a record that many other leaders can only dream of, and has led to Rwanda being cited as an economic success story that the rest of the continent would do well to follow.

Former USA President Barack Obama has visited Kenya, his father’s native country, for the first time since leaving office.
Mr Obama travelled to Kenya, for a two-day visit, to help support the launch of a sports, training and vocational centre founded by his half-sister, Dr Auma Obama. Sauti Kuu aims to provide economic opportunities for young people in rural Kenya. Its new centre will help the youth acquire new skills through education and sports.
