Dangote, Africa’s largest refinery becomes leading global supplier of aviation fuel 29/05/2026

Dangote Group’s petroleum refinery has emerged as the world’s largest exporter of jet fuel, marking a major milestone for Nigeria’s energy sector as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to reshape global fuel supply chains.

According to data referenced by S&P Global Commodities at Sea, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery recorded the highest jet fuel exports globally in April 2026 following disruptions linked to the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States around the Strait of Hormuz.

The development signals Nigeria’s growing influence in the international energy market and positions the Dangote Refinery as a major player in global aviation fuel supply.

Chief Executive Officer of the refinery, David Bird, disclosed in an S&P Global Energy report that the company shifted operations into what he described as “max jet mode” after instability in the Middle East disrupted traditional fuel export routes and tightened global supply.

Kogi East Group urges Tinubu to caution Akpabio over alleged political interference 29/05/2026

A political group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East Senatorial District has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to caution Senate President Godswill Akpabio over alleged attempts to interfere in the political affairs of Kogi State, particularly the politics of Kogi East.

The group, operating under the banner of Kogi East APC Justice Forum, accused the Senate President of allegedly backing moves to influence the political direction of the senatorial district against what it described as the wishes of party members and stakeholders.

In a statement signed by Mr. Monday Onalo, the Forum alleged that there were subterranean efforts to impose Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho on the people of Kogi East despite his reported defeat during the APC senatorial primary process.

According to the group, the alleged interference could create unnecessary tension within the ruling APC and undermine the political stability of the district.
