Day 19: Keeping Your Promises
Scripture: Numbers 30:2 If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by some agreement, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
Keeping your promises is a powerful foundation for a thriving marriage. In a world where words are often spoken casually, God calls us to be people of integrity, people whose “yes” truly means yes.
Book of Numbers 30:2 reminds us that when a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath, he must not break his word; he must do everything he has said. This principle goes beyond spiritual vows, it applies to the promises we make to our spouses every day.
Marriage itself is built on promises. On your wedding day, you made commitments, to love, to stay, to support, to remain faithful. But beyond that day, there are daily promises: “I will be there,” “I will do better,” “I will change,” “I will support you.” A thriving marriage is sustained when these words are backed by consistent action.
Breaking promises, even the “small” ones, slowly erodes trust. Over time, it creates doubt, distance, and emotional disconnection. But when you keep your word, you build safety, confidence, and respect in your relationship.
Keeping promises is not always easy. Sometimes emotions change, situations become difficult, or you feel tired. But commitment means you stay true to your word even when it is inconvenient. That is what makes love dependable and marriage secure.
If you have broken promises in the past, don’t ignore it, acknowledge it, take responsibility, and start rebuilding trust with consistent actions. God honors those who are faithful in their words.
A thriving marriage is not just built on love, it is built on trust, and trust grows when promises are kept.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to be a person of integrity who keeps every promise I make.
2. Father, give me the strength to stay committed even when it is not easy.
3. Lord, heal every broken trust in my marriage and restore confidence between us.
4. Father, teach me to speak carefully and act faithfully in all I do in Jesus’ name.

Marriage is not about finding perfection, it is about learning to appreciate, nurture, and grow what is already in your hands.
Make the available desirable or you will keep chasing what doesn’t exist.

In my own opinion, I think our grandparents, especially our grandmas, are just trying to secure their place in heaven 😂
Because tell me why they are now so gentle and full of love with their grandchildren… after they dealt with us like military trainers when we were growing up😭
Now it is all “my baby, come and eat” and commanding us not to touch their grandchildren😂
But back then, na we know wetin our eyes see😂
Grandma please… we remember everything o 😂
