My soul weeps, cause of what my heart sees,
A land once golden now trembling on broken knees.
I walk through streets where dreams used to rise,
Now dusted with silence, and echoes of cries.

The sun still shines, but it feels like a lie—
Its warmth stolen by leaders who let futures die.
Hope hangs thin like smoke in the air,
A young soul gasping, searching for care.

I watch my people scatter like leaves in harmattan winds,
Chasing survival, abandoning the place where life begins.
Our laughter is quieter, our fears speak loud,
Yet somehow we still pray beneath the darkened cloud.

My soul weeps, for the country I wish to love,
For youth with wings clipped before they ever fly above.
Still, in the rubble, I hold on to one last spark—
A bright light—Christ in me—refusing to surrender to the dark.
