PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Phase 1: Training (3 Months)
Partner with master barbers in Aba. Theory + practical. Include hygiene, business management, and drug abuse counseling.
Phase 2: Apprenticeship (3 Months)
Place trainees in shops across Abia for hands-on experience.
Phase 3: Empowerment
Government provides starter kits: clippers, chair, mirror, generator support for 100 best graduates to open shops.
Phase 4: Mentorship
Monthly meet-ups with successful barbers to keep them focused and off drugs.

INTRODUCTION
Youth unemployment and drug abuse remain major challenges in Abia State. Many young people in Aba and across the state are idle due to lack of skills and opportunities, making them vulnerable to drugs, cultism, and crime.
This proposal seeks government support to establish a "Sharp Future: Abia Youth Barbering Empowerment Program" — a skills acquisition initiative that will train, equip, and mentor 500+ Abia youths in professional barbing within 12 months.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Drug Abuse: Idle hands often turn to drugs and street life.
Missed Opportunity: Barbering is a low-capital, high-demand skill. Every community needs barbers, and a skilled barber can earn ₦50,000 - ₦150,000 monthly.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Train 500 Abia youths aged 16-35 in modern barbing, fades, beard grooming, and customer service.
Provide start-up kits and shop support to top 100 graduates.
Reduce youth involvement in drugs and crime by engaging them in productive work.
IMPORTANCE OF BARBING TO YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Immediate Income: A youth can start earning within 3 months of training.
Dignity of LaborBarbering builds self-esteem and responsibility.
Community Hub: Barber shops are places for mentorship, information, and positive peer influence.
Drug Prevention: When a young man is busy learning a craft and earning, he has no time for drugs. An engaged youth is a protected youth.
Self-Employment: No need to wait for government job. They can have their own shop.
