“I didn’t want to be a poor lecturer.” 😅
A simple statement. But what came from it?
In this episode, From Knowledge to Impact: Rethinking Healthcare Solutions in Nigeria, Prof. Margaret Ilomuanya shares the journey that took her from identifying the real world's needs to thinking about how research can translate into meaningful solutions.

Are pharmacists scientists? 🤔 Or does the answer depend on how we define science?
Professor Margaret Ilomuanya’s experience in hospital pharmacy gave her direct insight into the gaps that arise when patients need products that are not commercially available.
Through compounding pharmacy, she was able to develop solutions that responded to those unmet needs.
For Professor Ilomuanya, that clinical experience did not sit separately from her academic work. It helped shape the research questions she pursued and the kinds of products she sought to develop.
This is what meaningful bench-to-bedside science can look like! Not beginning with an abstract idea and searching for an application, but allowing real-world needs to inform the science from the outset.
How has your professional experience shaped the problems you believe research should address?
