Earlier today, students of Criminology and Security Studies went on an insightful excursion to the Borstal Institute Barnawa, aimed at bridging the gap between theory and practice. A day filled with learning, exposure, and unforgettable moments!

Criminology and Security Studies Department proudly paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kaduna Command, marking a significant moment of academic–professional engagement and collaboration. 🎖️

The visit served as an opportunity to bridge classroom knowledge with real-life security operations, giving students firsthand exposure to the structure, discipline, and responsibilities of one of Nigeria’s foremost paramilitary agencies. The NSCDC plays a vital role in protecting lives, securing critical national infrastructure, and maintaining public safety across the country. 

As a highlight of the visit, the department presented an award in recognition of the Command’s unwavering commitment, dedication, and service to national security. This gesture symbolizes appreciation for their efforts in combating crime, safeguarding communities, and strengthening peace within Kaduna State.

Moments like this reinforce the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and security agencies in grooming future professionals. It was indeed an insightful, impactful, and memorable experience—one that continues to inspire excellence, discipline, and service among students of Criminology and Security Studies.

EXCURSION REMINDER!!!!!

This is to inform all students that slots are still available for the upcoming academic excursion to the Borstal Training Institution, Barnawa, Kaduna.

This excursion is a great opportunity for students to gain practical exposure and better understand correctional and rehabilitation processes beyond the classroom.

The fee for participation is ₦2,000 per student, and payments should be made to your respective class representatives. Kindly ensure you make your payment early to secure your slot, as the available spaces are limited.
