DR MRS MARTINA NENTAWE YILWATDA ALONGSIDE HER HUSBAND PROF NENTAWE PAY VISIT TO VICTIMS OF ANG. RUKUBA RECENT ATTACK
Today, I stood beside my husband Prof Nentawe Yilwatda as we visited the victims of the painful attack in Angwan Rukuba.
The grief in the eyes of families, the silence of those in recovery, and the strength of survivors remind us that Plateau is hurting, yet still standing.
As part of our support, my husband donated the sum of 15 million naira to assist the victims and other vulnerable patients receiving care at the Jos University Teaching Hospital.
We offered our deepest condolences to every family that has lost a loved one. No words can fully heal this pain, but we share in your sorrow and hold you in our hearts.
We strongly condemn these repeated attacks on innocent and vulnerable citizens. No society should live in fear, and no community deserves such cruelty. This must stop. We must speak with one voice against violence and protect the dignity of every life. The safety of our people must remain our highest priority.
As a people, we must stay united. These attacks did not start today, and they did not begin with any one government. We must not politicize the lives of our people or use pain as a tool for division.
Let us come together across all lines; ethnic, religious, and political to face this common enemy and work towards lasting peace. I believe in the leadership of our President to take firm steps toward restoring peace, and I encourage all citizens to support every sincere effort aimed at ending this cycle.
My heart is heavy, but my hope is strong. I pray that God comforts every grieving family, heals the wounded, and restores peace to Plateau. May Nigeria rise above pain and find unity, healing, and lasting peace.

I warmly welcome the emergence of Rt. Hon. Daniel Naanlong Gapyil as the new Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, following the resignation of Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan. This transition marks a dawning of a renewed era of purposeful legislation. As the All Progressives Congress (APC) rightly steps into its democratic place of majority leadership, this moment rekindles hope for a more united, forward-looking Assembly that truly mirrors the will of the people.
To the new Speaker, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. Your elevation is a call to rise above divisions and forge a common legislative vision that puts Plateau first. I urge you to inspire your colleagues to uphold the sacred constitutional mandate of lawmaking that will drive meaningful change that echoes in every home across our beloved state.
Let it be known that the APC, both at the state and national level, stands firmly for good governance, peace, and progress. I pray that your leadership will shine as a beacon of excellence that makes the APC and the people of Plateau truly proud.

I visited Ngala LGA in Borno State, Nigeriaโs largest IDP settlement, alongside , at the border of Nigeria, and Cameroon, and just 7km from Chad. Amidst improved peace, many refugees are returning home from Chad and Cameroon. But last yearโs floods and years of insecurity have devastated lives, infrastructure, and livelihoods.
From helicopter arial view, we saw vast hectares of irrigated farmland, once used for wheat cultivation but now abandoned due to insecurity. Hundreds of square kilometres of fertile land lie idle while food needs are rising. Yet this land holds promise: a huge opportunity to rebuild livelihoods through secure, climate-smart agriculture.
In discussions with community leaders, women, and food vendors, we witnessed the pressure on food systems. Through FG and partnership, over 750,000 displaced persons are being supported with biometric e-wallets and food vouchers redeemable by purchasing locally produced food stuff at local retailers via POS, boosting transparency and dignity.
This model strengthens local economies and food production and aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubuโs Renewed Hope Agenda. Together, we are restoring hope, enhancing food security, and creating the foundation for sustainable return, recovery, and prosperity.

I am currently in Borno State on a two-day working visit alongside the World Food Programme (WFP). It was an honour to be received by His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, whose commitment to the well-being of displaced persons continues to inspire national and global partners.
Together with the Borno State Government and WFP, we are taking bold steps to decongest IDP camps by investing in durable solutions. Our collective focus is on restoring dignity to displaced persons through sustainable livelihood opportunities, skills acquisition, and community reintegration strategies that build long-term resilience.
This visit reinforces our shared commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to move beyond food assistance and empower displaced Nigerians to become productive, self-reliant, and hopeful once again.
