TSU Advances Strategic Partnerships Through High-Level Enugu Engagement

Taraba State University (TSU) has recorded another major milestone in its drive for academic excellence, innovation, and sustainable development following a high-level strategic engagement visit to Enugu State .

The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, accompanied by the DVC Development Services Prof. Mahmood Hamidu Umar , Engr. Peter Yuguda, Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State on Investment, Mr. Folorunsho Dayo Oluwafemi, Executive Director of the Initiative for Climate Change and Renewable Energy Advocacy (ICCREA) and representative of the Local Community Prosperity Alliance (LCPA), Switzerland, alongside other stakeholders.
The visit was a follow-up to the recent engagement between Taraba State University and the Local Community Prosperity Alliance (LCPA), Switzerland, aimed at fostering collaboration in research, innovation, renewable energy, climate action, investment promotion, and sustainable development.

During the visit, the delegation held strategic meetings with Very Rev. Monsignor Francis Obiora Ike, President of the Catholic Institute for Development, Justice, Peace and Caritas (CIDJAP), the management of Godfrey Okoye University, and the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.

Discussions focused on key areas of mutual interest, including research and innovation, DNA extraction and forensic science, tissue culture technology, renewable energy systems, climate change adaptation and mitigation, academic exchange programmes, ethics and leadership studies, eco-community and eco-tourism development, youth and women empowerment, as well as community-based industries and entrepreneurship.

As part of the engagements, the delegation toured state-of-the-art research laboratories, forensic science facilities, renewable energy installations, and eco-community development projects at Godfrey Okoye University, gaining first-hand experience of innovative practices that could be adapted to support development initiatives in Taraba State.

The visit produced significant outcomes, including strengthened institutional relationships, proposed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Taraba State University, CIDJAP, and Godfrey Okoye University, opportunities for investment partnerships, and commitments toward technical cooperation, mentorship, and capacity building.

Speaking on the importance of the engagement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, reaffirmed the University's commitment to building strategic partnerships that will enhance academic excellence, promote innovation, support sustainable development, and contribute to the socio-economic advancement of Taraba State and Nigeria.

TSU Holds Strategic Meeting on Integration of Affiliate Institutions' Data into University Portal

Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, has taken another significant step toward strengthening its digital administration system with a strategic meeting and demonstration on the incorporation of affiliate institutions' data into the University Portal.

The meeting, held at the Senate Chamber of the DDI Senate Building, brought together Provosts, Rectors, ICT Directors, and Records Officers from the University's affiliated colleges and institutions. The exercise was conducted under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, and coordinated through the Chairman DVC (Academic), Assoc Prof. Ahmad Baba Muhammad.

Speaking during the session, Assoc Prof. Ahmad Baba Muhammad emphasized that the initiative is aimed at centralizing and streamlining students' records across all affiliated institutions, thereby enhancing efficiency, accountability, and effective data management within the University system. The demonstration provided participants with practical guidance on the procedures for uploading students' records and meeting the required data standards for seamless integration into the University Portal.

He added that this initiative as a major milestone in the University's ongoing digital transformation agenda. He noted that the integration of affiliate institutions' data will improve access to accurate academic records, strengthen institutional coordination, and support informed decision-making. The exercise also reflects the University's commitment to leveraging technology to improve service delivery and ensure compliance with contemporary best practices in higher education administration.

He further emphasized that all admission procedures and academic programmes offered by the affiliated institutions are aligned with the policies and standards of the National Universities Commission (NUC), reaffirming the University's commitment to maintaining high academic standards and quality service delivery.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Admission Desk Officer, Mr. Idris Bubayero Mafindi, provided detailed insights into the 2026 admission guidelines. He highlighted key requirements, procedures, and expectations for affiliated institutions, stressing the importance of strict adherence to JAMB regulations and University admission policies to ensure a smooth and transparent admission process.

Stakeholders at the meeting commended the University Management for the initiative, describing it as a timely step toward enhancing collaboration and efficient records management across all affiliated institutions.

DDI Golf Club Marks First-Ever Women’s Golf Day in Grand Style…..

The DDI Golf Club, Taraba State University, Jalingo, made history as it hosted its first-ever Women's Golf Day celebration, bringing together distinguished guests, golfers, and sports enthusiasts in a memorable event dedicated to recognizing and promoting women’s participation in golf.

The Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Jonathan Reuben, warmly welcomed guests to the landmark occasion.

In his welcome address, Prof. Reuben expressed delight at the gathering and emphasized the significance of Women's Golf Day as a platform for celebrating the invaluable contributions of women to the game of golf and society at large.
“Today, we gather not only to celebrate sporting excellence but also to promote inclusion, friendship, networking, and healthy living through sports,” he stated.

Prof. Bako at High-Impact 5-Day Staff Workshop on Teaching Entrepreneurship Using Effectuation

Prof. Reuben Jonathan stood in for Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, the Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University Jalingo, as TSU launched a bold 5-day staff capacity building workshop themed “Teaching Entrepreneurship Using Effectuation.”

Organized by the Institute for Entrepreneurship Skills Acquisition, Innovation, Research and Digitalization* and powered by TETFund, the workshop brought together academic and non-academic staff for hands-on, action-driven training. The focus is to move beyond theory and equip TSU staff with practical strategies for teaching entrepreneurship through creativity, decision-making under uncertainty, and building with available resources — the core of the effectuation approach.

The opening session drew top university and TETFund officials, underscoring the institution’s commitment to strengthening staff capacity. In attendance were Prof. Reuben Jonathan, representing the VC; Dr. Joseph Umar Bibinu, the Registrar of TSU Jalingo; Mr. Sale Aji, TETFund Desk Officer on Project, reflecting TETFund’s direct support; Prof. Dauda Suntai, Director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship Skills Acquisition, Innovation, Research and Digitalization; and Prof. Idoko, adding academic depth to the leadership team present.

The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for preserving lives to witness yet another important Islamic celebration, noting that Eid-el-Kabir symbolizes faith, obedience, sacrifice, and total devotion to God, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
