UNILORIN INTRODUCES BARCODE ON 2026/2027 CANDIDATES' APPLICATION SLIPS

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has introduced a barcode feature on the application slips of candidates participating in the 2026/2027 admission exercise, as part of measures to strengthen the verification and authentication of applicants’ information.

The newly introduced barcode is expected to serve as an additional verification tool for candidates’ application records and other relevant admission details.

Upon scanning the barcode, information linked to the candidate’s application will be retrieved, including the candidate’s application status, programme of choice and other relevant details contained in the University’s admission

The barcode is visible on the 2026/2027 application slip, alongside the candidate’s application information.

UNILORIN had earlier advised prospective candidates to carefully enter and verify their examination and application details, warning that errors in submitted information could have consequences for their admission processing.

The University is currently processing admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session and has assured candidates who merit admission that they will be offered admission ahead of the commencement of the new academic session.

UNILORIN TO COMMENCE RELEASE OF 2026/2027 ADMISSION LIST TOMORROW

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is set to commence the release of its 2026/2027 admission list tomorrow, September 23, 2026.

Candidates who participated in the admission process are advised to begin monitoring their JAMB CAPS from tomorrow for updates on their admission status.

Applicants should note that admission offers may be released and uploaded in batches. Candidates whose admission status does not immediately reflect are therefore advised to remain patient and continue checking their portals regularly.

The commencement of the admission process comes ahead of the scheduled October 5, 2026 resumption date for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Fountain University, Osogbo has appointed first professor of both Mass Communication and Computer Engineering.

The approval was part of the major highlights of the 67th council meeting of the University held today, Monday, September 21st.

The appointed Professor of Mass Communication is Prof. Raheemat Adeniran while Mutiyat Adebukola Ogunrinde was appointed as a Professor of Computer Engineering. The appointment is the first in the history of both departments.

FUOYE BANS END OF SESSION PARTIES, SIGN-OUT ACTIVITIES

The Senate of the University of Calabar has suspended nine students for one academic session over their involvement in examination misconduct.

According to a statement by the university’s Public Relations Unit, made available to newsmen in Calabar on Monday, the suspension was conveyed to the affected students in letters signed by the Registrar, Dr Chukwuka Icha.

The action, the university said, followed the approval of the Senate based on recommendations by its Examination Misconduct Committee.

“The affected students have been suspended for the 2026/2027 academic session and are expected to resume their studies in the 2027/2028 academic session.

“Five of the affected students are from the Department of Theatre and Media Studies, Faculty of Arts.”

“The others are in the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences; Department of Geology, Faculty of Physical Sciences; Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences; and the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences,” the statement said.

The university directed the Acting Chief Security Officer, deans, heads of departments and other relevant units to take note of the suspension and ensure full compliance with the directive.
