العِلْمُ فِي أَصْلَيْنِ لَا يَعْدُوهُمَا #

"Al-Qāḍī ʿIyāḍ (may Allah have mercy upon him) was reported to have said:
"Knowledge is in two sources; none deviates from them except the one who strays from the clear path." "The knowledge of the Book (al-Qurʾān) and the knowledge of the traditions (al-āthār) which have been authentically transmitted from a successor from a companion."

**New Skill! Let's form your first Arabic sentences!**

You've learned to name things and describe them. Now, let's learn how to combine those skills to form a complete sentence! This is the core of Arabic grammar.

The Nominal Sentence (`الْجُمْلَةُ الْاِسْمِيَّةُ`)

Note: Every simple nominal sentence has two parts:

الْمُبْتَدَأُ. (*al-mubtada*): The Subject.

This is the topic of the sentence. It is almost always **definite** (`الْـ`).

* **الْخَبَرُ** (*al-khabar*): The Predicate.
* This provides information about the subject. It is almost always **indefinite** and matches the subject in gender.

Here are seven examples to show you how simple it is:

1. The mosque is near: **الْمَسْجِدُ قَرِيبٌ.**
2. The market is far: **السُّوقُ بَعِيدٌ.**
3. The car is beautiful: **السَّيَّارَةُ جَمِيلَةٌ.**
4. The boy is tall: **الْوَلَدُ طَوِيلٌ.**
5. The girl is short: **الْبِنْتُ قَصِيرَةٌ.**
6. The teacher is hardworking: **الْمُعَلِّمُ مُجْتَهِدٌ.**
7. The house is old: **الْبَيْتُ قَدِيمٌ.**
