As a rabbit farmer, how can you add value through rabbit meat production?

Here are some things to note:

1.Production Quality

*Rabbit breed for meat production:opt for breeds like New Zealand and Chincilla, which are known for their meat-producing quality.

*Organic farming: practice pure organic meat production free of preservatives or drugs that speed up their weight gain. Organic meat is more beneficial to health than inorganic.

2. Production quantity: This will depend on your breeding stock (rabbits that are giving birth) and when the rabbits reach maturity to be sold off as meat. If you have 10 DOES, you’ll get about 60 rabbits, and it will take about 4 months for each rabbit to reach an average weight of 2-3kg. Also, after killing, it's expected that they lose about 0.5-1kg of weight.

3. Standard Hygienic Slaightering: Follow the standard method to ensure the head and all furs are totally removed. This is very easy and shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

You can also separate the carcass (bone) from the meat to give it more value. Remove all traces of blood and freeze.

2. *Rabbit urine:* Rabbit urine is a rich source of NPK fertilizer; it contains nitrogen, phosporus, potassium, sulfur, calcium, and magnesium. It can also be used as a pesticide to control pests. This can be sold to crop farmers as a cheaper substitute for NPK fertilizers.

*3.Rabbit f***s:* It can be used as farm manure on farmland, therefore it can be sold to crop farmers.

*4.Rabbit fur:* it can be sold off to fashion industries for making hats, coats, and other fur products.

This means you can create multiple streams of income from just rabbit farming alone with little or no cost at all.
