Devastating flooding affected Zambuk Community in Yamaltu Deba Federal Constituency, leading to destruction of homes, displacement of families, injuries, loss of belongings, and damage to farmlands and crops.

May Allah (SWT) protect our communities from such disasters, grant relief to the affected, and restore all that has been lost

MOTION ON THE FLOOD DISASTER IN ZAMBUK COMMUNITY, YAMALTU DEBA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY GOMBE STATE

As a matter of urgent public importance, I yesterday presented a motion before the House on the devastating heavy rainfall and flooding that affected Zambuk Community in Yamaltu Deba Federal Constituency, and the urgent need for immediate humanitarian intervention.

The community was hit by heavy rainfall on 8th June 2026, which resulted in severe flooding that destroyed properties and livelihoods.

The disaster rendered many families homeless and exposed them to harsh living conditions. Several people were injured, while many others lost valuable belongings.

In addition, the floodwaters washed away large expanses of farmlands and destroyed standing crops.

I called for urgent intervention from relevant government and humanitarian agencies to provide relief materials, medical support, and immediate assistance to the affected victims.

May Allah protect our communities from such disasters and grant speedy recovery to all those affected.

The commissioning and flagoff of the Gombe–Biu Road project is a major breakthrough for my constituency, Yamaltu Deba, the North-East Geo Political Zone, Gombe State, and Nigeria as a whole.

I moved a motion on the urgent need to investigate the oil exploration activities in Gombe and Bauchi States within the North East political zone

Investigation into Oil Exploration Activities in Gombe and Bauchi States

The Kolmani oil field project commenced in 2016, leading to the discovery of approximately 1 billion barrels of crude oil.

This significant discovery prompted the establishment of the Kolmani Interested Development Project by former President Buhari in collaboration with the current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in November 2022.

Current Situation and Concerns

Despite the initial promise and potential of the oil exploration activities, there have been growing concerns about the declining progress and participation of companies in the region.

Companies are reportedly pulling out of the area even after receiving payments from taxpayers’ money.

This alarming trend has raised suspicions and calls for a thorough investigation into why the exercise is regressing day by day.

House Committee Investigation

In response to these pressing issues, in my prayers I urged the house to mandate mandated a committee to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the oil exploration activities in Gombe and Bauchi States.

And The committee has been tasked with reporting back to the house within four weeks with their findings and recommendations on how to address the challenges facing this crucial sector.
