FG DECLARES TUESDAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY AS NATION MARKS EID UL MAWLID

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, 25th August 2026 a public holiday in honour of this year's Eid ul Mawlid, celebrated in remembrance of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Announcing the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm felicitations to Muslims in Nigeria and across the diaspora.

"Every Eid ul Mawlid gives us reason to pause and draw lessons from a life defined by compassion, humility and service to others," the minister said.

"These are qualities our nation needs now more than ever, and I encourage every Nigerian, not just our Muslim brothers and sisters, to reflect on them."

He added that the period should also serve as a time for collective prayer for the peace and cohesion of the country, noting that national unity remains a shared responsibility.

Tunji-Ojo further charged citizens to observe the celebration with restraint and mutual respect, wishing the Muslim community a joyous and peaceful Eid.

He restated the resolve of the present administration to safeguard lives and property across the country and to ensure that peace is maintained at all times.

FFS GOMBE COMMAND REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO STRONGER PARTNERSHIP WITH CORRECTIONAL SERVICE

The State Controller, Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, DCF S. M. Sulaiman, attended the one-year anniversary celebration of the Controller, Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Gombe State Command, CCS Agada Felix Audu.

In his goodwill message, DCF S. M. Sulaiman congratulated the Controller on the milestone and commended his leadership and commitment to the Service.

He reaffirmed the FFS Gombe State Command’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service, particularly in the areas of fire prevention, safety awareness, emergency response and rescue operations.

The State Controller emphasized that effective inter-agency collaboration is essential to protecting lives and property and ensuring a coordinated response to emergencies.

He wished CCS Agada Felix Audu continued success in office and expressed confidence that the existing relationship between both agencies would continue to grow for the benefit of the people of Gombe State.

FFS GOMBE STATE COMMAND CELEBRATES PRO’S NIPR MILESTONE

The Public Relations Officer, Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, ASF II M.B. Muazu, ANIPR, today presented his Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Certificate to the State Controller, DCF Sulaiman Mohammed Sulaiman, following his successful completion of the required training and subsequent induction into the Institute.

The induction and certification mark a significant milestone in his professional journey and represent a notable achievement in his continuous pursuit of professional development and excellence in public relations practice.

The State Controller congratulated the PRO on the achievement and charged him to apply the knowledge and professional standards acquired through the training and induction towards enhancing the image, communication, and public relations Activities of the Command.

FFS EDUCAT​ES PhD STUDENTS ON LABORATORY FIRE SAFETY AND FIRE EXTINGUISHER HANDLING

The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, has educated PhD students of the School of Science Education, Gombe State University, on Laboratory Fire Safety and the Proper Handling and Use of Fire Extinguishers.

The lecture was facilitated by DSF Janoson Jonas Alama, Head of Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASF MB Muazu ANIPR.

The engagement focused on laboratory fire hazards, preventive measures, emergency response procedures, and the correct use of portable fire extinguishers. The lecture formed part of the prerequisite requirements for the programme.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to promoting fire safety awareness and a strong culture of prevention across educational institutions in Gombe State.
