It’s honestly incredible how taking those small steps, ones you were once too scared to take can lead to results you never imagined.

As an introvert, I’ve always valued my privacy. I preferred to observe from the sidelines, watching those I admired for their boldness and confidence. But when I started this journey back in September, I had no idea what I was doing. I battled with imposter syndrome, unsure of what to post or even where to begin.

Yet, I just started. From my 30-day design challenge to consistently showing up, I realized that I was growing in ways I never expected. I thought I’d be ignored, that maybe I wasn’t meant to be in this space.

But now, I’m celebrating two amazing milestones!

Yesterday, I hit 400 followers on LinkedIn, and in just 18 hours, I’ve grown to 560+ followers. And here on Facebook, I’m excited to celebrate 150+ followers. I’m genuinely grateful for every one of you who has supported me.

This journey has taught me the power of resilience. Consistency is key, and every step, no matter how small, makes a difference. This may seem like a small milestone to some, but for me, it’s huge. I’ve decided to celebrate every achievement, big or small.

Last week in my ALX Virtual Assistant training was a true game-changer.
We learned how to create a strong professional presence, and I came away with skills that genuinely boosted my confidence.

First, we tackled cover letters and resumes. I learned how to go beyond listing skills to really showcase what makes me unique,crafting cover letters and resumes that reflect who I am and what I offer. This session really opened my eyes to how much impact a well-written introduction can have.

Then we moved on to LinkedIn. I knew LinkedIn was important, but I didn’t fully realize its potential until now. We learned how to build a profile that doesn’t just sit there but actually works for us, drawing the attention of the right people and building credibility. This session helped me see LinkedIn as a tool to connect authentically, not just a place to display my job history.

Finally, we focused on networking, and this was probably the most eye-opening. Networking isn’t about collecting contacts; it’s about building meaningful connections. I learned practical, real-life strategies to reach out and stay connected in ways that feel natural and genuine. It made me realize that being myself and adding value to others is really what matters.

Week 6 left me feeling more prepared and motivated than ever. I’m excited to keep building on these skills and see where they take me on this journey!

Today, I’m celebrating a big personal milestone!
I received my first job offer just 5 weeks after enrolling in the alx_africa Virtual Assistant training program!

What made this offer special wasn’t just the timing; it came in the most unexpected way
Honestly, before I got this response, I had sent out hundreds of cold pitches to clients without a single reply.

When I finally connected with this client, who asked to see my social media handles and was impressed by what he saw, I knew it was the result of God’s grace and hard work.

That moment showed me the value of putting myself out there and letting my skills shine through.

For some, this may seem like a small step, but to me, it’s a testament to hard work, perseverance, and God’s grace.
Each milestone, no matter the size, is a reminder that I’m on the right path, and I’m grateful for every bit of progress. I’m excited to see where this journey in the virtual assistant world will lead.

Last week in our ALX assistant training, we learned some essential skills that makes work smoother and more professional.

We started with meeting basics, why having a clear agenda is so important and how it keeps everyone focused.
We practiced by creating our own meeting agendas and capturing key points in minutes, making it easy for everyone to know what to do next.

We explored tools for internet research, like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot, which are incredible for speeding up tasks and finding information fast.
We also learned how to set up a client expense tracker, and then got hands-on by creating a data entry project, building accuracy and organization skills.

One of the most eye-opening lessons was on Emotional Intelligence.
It’s more than just understanding emotions; it’s about using them as a compass in both personal and professional settings.

We learned to:

✅ Use emotions to fuel clear, purposeful thinking.

✅ Manage our emotions constructively, especially in stressful situations.

✅ Perceive emotions in others,a crucial skill for building trust with clients.

✅ Understand emotional patterns, which helps us anticipate and respond to client needs more effectively.

Empathy was emphasized too, defined as the ability to truly sense and understand others’ emotions. As VAs, this isn’t optional; it’s a key to building client relationships that are authentic and responsive. Empathy isn’t just about others though,it’s about self-awareness, recognizing our strengths and weaknesses, learning from setbacks, and adapting when things get tough.

Looking back at my skill tracker, it’s incredible to see the growth.
Just three weeks ago, I had a long list of skills I thought would take forever to master. Now, I’m already ticking off more than I expected, proving how dedication and the right guidance can accelerate progress.

Week 5 was challenging, packed with content, but absolutely rewarding. Here’s to , grit, and doing the things with alx_africa !

This design truly came together in a way that feels both fresh and meaningful to me. I put my heart into this, and seeing it come to life has been such a rewarding journey.

Last week, ALX threw a fun yet surprisingly challenging task our way: Planning a dream trip to our chosen country!
At first, it sounded like pure excitement,and it was but it also tested my resilience, pushing me to keep going even when I felt overwhelmed.

For my birthday vacation, I designed a travel pack to Santorini, and let me tell you, the process was no walk in the park.

Between researching entry requirements, learning about the cultural expectations, and putting together a killer itinerary for my 3-day trip, my brain was constantly buzzing with information overload.
Add to that the challenge of making the travel pack visually stunning and appealing, it felt like a mental marathon!

But here’s the thing: I did it. And I’m so proud of myself. This week was all about focusing on the traveler’s (whether it’s a client or me) needs and ensuring they have a seamless, unforgettable experience.

I went from just being excited to really learning what it takes to plan a flawless trip,it's about details, preparation, and making sure everything is perfect.
It wasn’t easy, but I’m here, on the other side, stronger for it.

The experience reminded me that we can do hard things and do them well. ALX is constantly pushing us to grow, and I’m embracing every bit of it. I can’t wait to apply everything I’ve learned, both for myself and my clients.

If anyone told me learning Google Workspace could take me on an emotional rollercoaster, I wouldn't have believed them. But here we are, week 3, and I’m both exhausted and so much wiser. 🙃

Last week was all about mastering the tools that keep businesses running smoothly:

Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets

We also dove deep into Email Management, Organizing, Filtering, and Labeling
It’s one of those crucial Virtual Assistant Skills no one tells you will save your sanity and your client's.

But amidst all the craziness, I can proudly say that I survived and I’ve learned a ton!
Now, I can confidently say I’m skilled at using these tools to help businesses stay organized and on top of their game.

I mean, who wouldn’t want a VA who can handle the chaos of Email Clutter and keep your Google Workspace in order?

So yes, the week was hectic. Yes, I almost cried.
But I’m walking away with a set of essential skills that make a VA truly effective. And I’m grateful for it all, even if my brain now associates Google Sheets with slight panic. 😅
