The Dignity Act, formally known as the "Dignity for Immigrants while Guarding our Nation to Ignite and Deliver the American Dream (DIGNIDAD) Act of 2025," is proposed immigration reform legislation that has been gaining bipartisan momentum since being introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives last July.
The 261-page bill, which follows previous tabled iterations of the same name in 2022 and 2023, endeavors to overhaul the immigration system and address the crisis of illegal immigration with provisions such as securing the border, implementing enforcement measures, repairing the asylum system and providing temporary legal status for long-term illegal immigrants. Since being introduced by Reps. María Elvira Salazar, R-Fla., and Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, the bill has secured 39 co-sponsors, including 19 Republicans, and endorsements from more than 60 national organizations, though some Republican critics have dismissed the bill as a backdoor attempt to provide amnesty. Here is a list of some of the key provisions of the Dignity Act, which has continued to stoke fierce debate despite being stalled in committee for nearly a year.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch sparked debate after describing America as a “creedal nation” during a recent interview about his children’s book, Heroes of 1776: The Story of the Declaration. Speaking with National Review, Gorsuch said the United States is united by shared ideals in the Declaration of Independence rather than race or religion.
His comments quickly gained attention online, with supporters praising the focus on liberty and equality, while critics argued that national identity is also shaped by history, culture and traditions.
Some commentators referenced John Jay, who wrote about the cultural unity of early America during the nation’s founding period. Others connected to The Federalist questioned whether shared beliefs alone can maintain unity in a diverse society.

Americans across the country are expected to participate in gatherings and online events for the 75th annual National Day of Prayer. This year’s theme, “Glorify God Among the Nations — Seeking Him in All Generations,” was inspired by 1 Chronicles 16, a passage describing King David’s prayer of thanksgiving after the Ark of the Covenant returned to Jerusalem.
According to National Day of Prayer Task Force President Kathy Branzell, the theme focuses on gratitude, unity, and seeking God across generations. The National Day of Prayer was officially recognized in 1952 after a joint resolution of Congress was signed by President Harry Truman. In 1988, the observance was designated to take place on the first Thursday of May.
Linda Harrison, a regional coordinator in New York, said public education about the history and purpose of the event remains an important part of the organization’s mission as communities gather nationwide for prayer and reflection.
