There is a particular private school in Port Harcourt where I teach physics and chemistry. The SSS3 science students are 26 in number. But whenever I am teaching them, only 3 or 4 of them copy note from the board and listen. Others will be playing and disturbing in class. Some of them will not be in class to receive lesson, but will be outside the class gisting. Some of them will come to the class when lesson is about to end. The schools closes by 3pm while school's WAEC lesson for SS3 starts from 3:10pm-5:30pm. All of them paid for the WAEC lesson, but not more than 4 of them wait to attend the lesson . Few others will come when we are about to round up the lesson. And when they arrive, they will be playing around school premises. The ones that will enter class will not bother to write, but will be disturbing the class. Other art teachers and mathematics teachers also complained about this same thing they experience from these SS3 students. You are wasting your time if you try to flog and control them. They will break your cane and remind you that they are seniors. Some of them will tell you they are now WAEC properties and ready to fight you. Throught this term, you will never see any of reading book, except discussing about s*x and boyfriend. These nonsenses started after they received news that federal house of representative members have asked WAEC to suspend the planned WAEC CBT examination till six years time. These students even celebrated the news before we the teachers. Also, this my school don't have WAEC center, but the school our SSS3 students normally write their WAEC right from time is a popular examination malpractice center with not less than 6 to 8 different schools also writing there. When I advised them not to rely on examination malpractice because a strong born against christian or Deeper Life Church member invigilator might be posted there in any of the core subjects during WAEC, they told me that the proprietor of the school normally bribe the people in the office where they normally do the posting of invigilators for WAEC in Port Harcourt, so that such kind of strict invigilator that doesn't take bribe will not be posted to his school during WAEC. The painful thing is that majority of these SSS3 science students said they want to study medicine in the university. These are the ones that will treat you and I in the hospital, in future time when we fall sick. Empty brain students. May God help us.
