My Academic Journey
My academic journey has been rough and tough so far, but I give God the glory.
I started my journey at Ola-Olu International Nursery and Primary School Ede, Osun State and I left the school to join them at Baptist Day School, Awo, Osun State for a common entrance examination when I was in primary 4.
Throughout my years at Ola-Olu and Baptist Day School, I was always at the top of my class. I then proceeded to Mapo Arogun Comprehensive Junior High School, Ede, Osun State, where I completed my JSS 1&2, and I later joined them at Alawo Grammar School Awo, Osun State for JSSS WAEC. I then crossed the bridge to SS1 at the same school, but only did the first term with them. I later moved to the School of Science Ikirun (SOSIK), Osun State, where I completed my secondary school journey.
Furthermore, I sat for the JAMB in 2015. Unfortunately, I could not meet up with the cut-off mark for university admission and as a fresh graduate of (SOSIK), all I had in my head was to study Medicine and Surgery.
I moved on after failing the JAMB to obtain the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Pre-degree form in 2016 and I stayed at the Ejigbo campus.
During this programme, I had good people around me, and it was one of the memories that made me wish I could go back to the University in time. I therefore sat for another JME exam in 2016 with the intention of studying Nursing Science and I still did not meet the cut-off mark. At that point in my life,I thought luck was just against me. However, I used the JAMB result to obtain the Federal Polytechnic Ede (FPE) form and I opted for National Diploma (ND) full-time to study Science Laboratory Technology (SLT).
To my surprise I was given admission to study Computer Engineering Technology (Daily Part-time). Although the computer was something I liked playing with when I was a kid, I took it up and stayed focused with the mindset of going for Direct Entry after my OND, but I never knew that I would be admitted into the Redeemer's University.
I completed my OND with a Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) of 2.64, Lower Credit even though we dragged โALUTAโ because I was the Welfare Director. I had my Industrial training (IT) after my OND at the Academic Affairs Unit, Registry, Redeemer's University.
During my IT, I worked with people that contributed a lot to my life. The IT period was one of the best moments of my life and I started my career in programming because I was working in a resourceful environment and remarkable people helped me to gain admission into the Redeemer's University. I therefore gained admission into RUN as a Direct Entry student.
At this juncture, I told myself that I must not let my parents down and I must not let the people who helped me down and I must make everyone proud, most importantly, I must make myself proud.
The bitter truth about me is that I am the only child of my mum and I must make sure that she eats the fruit of her labour. My dad is my role model, the shoulder I always lean on. Dad tried a lot to make sure I have a good education and I can never forget him, I have the mindset of spending my last penny on my dad whenever I begin to earn my own money.
I can recall that in my first semester at Redeemer's University, I had a GPA of 4.25. I was very happy and I could not believe it. At this point, I realized that there's nothing extraordinary on its own, every extraordinary input brings great output. 200-level second semester hmmm this was my unforgettable semester. My mum had a stroke a week before my examinations, and this affected me both mentally and emotionally which made my CGPA to drop from 4.25 to 3.90. Hmmm, this pained me a lot because my goal was to come out with First Class. How am I going to achieve that?. I asked myself. At this point, I summoned courage. My mum's illness was my weakness but I then made it my driving force. In my 300 level first semester, I was voted as the course representative and I had a GPA of 4.62, while in the second semester I had a GPA of 4.87, and in the 400 level first semester, GPA of 4.72 and in the second semester, GPA of 4.79.
To God be the glory I graduated with a CGPA of 4.45.
I would like to acknowledge those who have contributed to my life immensely while at the University:
Mrs. Bukola Dairo
Mr. Patrick Owolanke
Mr. Oyedapo Oyeniyi
Pastor David Akintola
Pastor Oluseyi Alakija
