There comes a defining moment in every fresher's journey when knowledge meets purpose and learning finds direction. The Freshers’ Induction of the Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars (ABAS), University of Calabar – The Cradle Chapter, is that moment.

With the theme “Illuminated Minds, Consecrated Lives: Enriching Knowledge for Kingdom’s Exploit,” this gathering is more than a welcome, it is an alignment. A space where minds are enlightened, values are shaped, and lives are consecrated for excellence, service, and impact, in line with Colossians 1:10.

Thank You, Father

FAITH TOOK CENTER STAGE AS ABAS UNICAL HELD AN EXHILARATING DIVINE SERVICE ON CAMPUS

26TH JANUARY, 2026.
NSLT2, University of Calabar.

The Association of Brotherhood of Academic Scholars (ABAS), University of Calabar Chapter, today, held a vibrant Divine Service at NSLT2, emphasizing faith in the Father as the foundation of Ambassadorship.

The service was officiated by the Father in Bro. Peter Ofem, who delivered a powerful gospel centered on unwavering faith and confidence in God. Drawing from biblical illustrations and personal experiences, Bro. Ofem shared a testimony on how he successfully Baptized one of his lecturers, and encouraged Abasites to remain bold and firm in expressing their beliefs despite societal judgments.

The service featured a lively and spirited outing led by the Chapter President, Bro. John Essien. The session was marked by energetic praise, joyful songs, and energetic dance steps.

The President urged all ABASites to actively participate in the State Week activities and to prepare wholeheartedly for the anticipated Freshers’ Induction Ceremony and ABAS International Congress.

The Divine Service concluded with a revitalizing love feast, leaving members spiritually refreshed and motivated for the week ahead.

BROTHERHOOD MEMBERS WORSHIP MAN

This is the most common phrase people use to justify their dislike for BCS.

But if we are being honest, it is safe to say that we humans are deeply hypocritical.

Let me ask a simple question:

When our Lord Jesus Christ came in His first advent, did He come as a spirit or as a man?

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”John 1:14

Jesus was fully God, yet fully man. He ate, slept, walked, got tired, and lived among men. And yet, the very people who had the Scriptures, who read about the coming Messiah daily, rejected Him.

“He came unto his own, and his own received him not.”— John 1:11

History teaches us a painful lesson:

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
– George Santayana

In ancient times, the people knew a Messiah would come, but they had already created an expectation of what He should look like, where He should come from, and how He should behave. So when He appeared outside their expectations, they insulted Him, cursed His followers, and eventually crucified Him.

📌 “Is not this the carpenter’s son?” — Matthew 13:55
📌“We know where this man is from…”— John 7:27

Today, many argue loudly with very little scriptural knowledge. Many do not study their Bibles; they only inherit opinions.

This is not just blindness—it is ignorance wrapped in the refusal to seek truth.

📌“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”— Hosea 4:6

We have already created a version of truth that feels comfortable to us.

“It is hard to hear God’s voice when you have already decided what you want Him to say.”

Arguing with someone whose Bible is covered in cobwebs and whose mind is spiritually dormant is unproductive.
Let’s be honest. how many churches even teach the Book of Revelation?

📌“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy…” — Revelation 1:3

The Bible clearly teaches that God dwells with men:

“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them…”— Revelation 21:3

History is repeating itself but this time, the Bible says He is not coming to die, but to establish His Kingdom and reign amongst men.

“And of His kingdom there shall be no end.” — Luke 1:33

So when people say, “They worship man,” yet claim they are waiting for Jesus to come again—
how do you expect to worship Him when He comes, if the Bible already shows He must come as man?😂

“Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.” — 1 John 4: 2

THEOLOGICAL SUPPORT

C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity:
Lewis explains that Christianity is founded on the radical claim that God entered humanity, not as an abstract force but as a living person.

Jürgen Moltmann, The Coming of God:
He writes that God’s kingdom is not merely future or spiritual, but a lived reality among people.
