Social structure in medieval times kept most families stuck in poverty for generations

In the Middle Ages, where you were born decided who you would be forever. Society was strictly divided into classes — nobles, clergy, and peasants — with almost no way to move between them. Peasants worked the land for their lords, paying taxes in crops and labor, while nobles controlled property and lived off the peasants’ work. The church held enormous influence, shaping rules and beliefs for everyone.

For peasants, freedom barely existed. They needed permission to marry, move, or hunt on their lord’s land. Education was reserved for nobles and priests, keeping commoners uneducated and dependent. Even skilled workers, like blacksmiths or millers, had limited rights and were taxed heavily. Women had even fewer opportunities, often defined only by their husbands’ or fathers’ status.

This rigid system kept power in the hands of a few for centuries. While rebellion sometimes broke out, most people accepted their place as fate or divine order. It wasn’t until much later that trade, towns, and education began to challenge this frozen social structure.

Putting a good amount of our energy into being humane would be most meaningfull 2026.

As this year comes to an end I wish to use this medium to which my christian friends and acquaintances the best that they wish themselves now and forever.
Having said that, I use this medium to also make all my non muslim friends and acquaintances understand this calender is gregorian and not Islamic and has nothing to do with my lifestyle as a Muslim. My wishes to you are all in the spirit of tolerance, 1st of january is not a new year for me. Unfortunately most of you do not know, but sime of you believe I must accrpt and celebrate because I tolerate. No I do not have to, but yes I am okay with you being you. In that spirit, I will appreciate that you accept my restricted comments and reactions because for me,
No matter how pleasnt the joy of the earth is, the goodness of my hereafter is above it. Do please live and let live.
