Yesterday, at about 8:00 a.m., I received a notification on my phone requesting that I input an OTP sent to my number to complete a transaction. I immediately became worried because I had not initiated any transaction.

I switched off my phone immediately. However, when I turned it back on, the phone went through an initialization process, and shortly after, I received a notification that the transaction was successful.

A total sum of ₦196,000 was debited from my OPay account.

I immediately contacted OPay customer service, but I was not satisfied with the response I received. I therefore proceeded to their office to make a formal complaint.

Upon getting to the office, I was informed that the money had been transferred to a certain Esther Okeogene Benson, with account number 8151812905, which is also reportedly linked to her mobile number.

I reached out to Esther and pleaded with her to help reverse the money to my account. However, she claimed that she does not have an OPay account.

When I contacted her again, she stated that “funds are being transferred in and out of her account and she doesn't have any idea how that is going on.”

At this point, I am deeply concerned and confused about how the transaction happened, especially because I did not initiate or authorize it.

I need help understanding what happened and recovering my money.🙏😭
