Have you ever wondered why we lay emphasis on some instructions after dental procedures?

maybe you ever had an extraction done or scaling and polishing,root canal treatment or even simple fillings and you wonder why some empasis were layed on some instructions?

i will be talking about WARM WATER SALT SOLUTION after extraction or curretage.

Warm water salt solution procedure is a therapeutic procedure especially after curretage, extraction either simple or surgical, and scaling also.

how is this done

first you boil your water to 100 degree celcius (normal boiling point)
pour the boiled water into a glass cup and allow to cool (to warm that your mouth can accomodate without burning)
pour a levelled tea spoon(get a baby spoon,take salt to fill and then level the salt with your finger)
-stir mixture together.
-pour in ur mouth (gaggle or hold in cheeck dependimg on the procedure instruction)

repeat till water finishes.

procedure to be done 6-8 times daily
here's how to do
before breakfast and after breakfast, before and after lunch,before and after dinner then ast thing after brushing at night.

- Help to reduce oral bacteria that may hinder healing
-salt relieves infection and promote gum healing
-cheaper and easy to make
-it doesnt contain alcohol and addictives like mouth washes

Talking of toothpaste

so i was in the market today to get groceries and some other things for the house since it weekend already.
jumped into the store an decided to pick a new toothpaste,the one un the house is almost exhausted and i need to refill so i don't have to worry about when the old one finishes and boom i saw alot of new brands of toothpastes flooding the market..

well as a teeth doctor i know what i want even if i will want to try out the new brands here are some of the things i watch out for (i honestly dont have a particular brand of toothpaste anyway)

Now this is for all of us out here
i know you are like me but you need to know what to watch out for when buying toothpastes especially the new brands for tryouts

-Fluoride
you need to learn to check out the ingredients ok any tooth paste you want to try out
ensure it has FLUORIDE between 1100-1500ppm
i will explain why

Fluoride is one ingredient we cant readily come by anywhere in developing countries and this is because our government dont care about us anymore

Flouride is good for the teeth in a good not excessive quantity
it helps to prevent build up of caries if
it also help to prevent brittleness of the teeth
i.e makes the teeth strong enough to eat meat

Excess of it isnt good but u might not even get to it excess since its not such a readily available element in our day to day life
