The Nigerian Army has donated 196 bags of fertilizer to farmers in Daudu community, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, in a move aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening ties with host communities. The intervention also highlights ongoing efforts to link security operations with grassroots support.

The donation forms part of the Army’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, designed to improve livelihoods in communities affected by security challenges while fostering cooperation between residents and military personnel.

The distribution took place on Wednesday at UBE Primary School, Daudu. Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaib, the Commander of 401 Special Forces Brigade, Brigadier General KO Bukoye, said the initiative targets improved farm yields and sustainable community development.

He urged beneficiaries to use the fertilizer effectively and support security efforts by sharing credible information on criminal activities in their areas.

Chairman of Guma LGA, Hon. Maurice Orwough, commended the Army for the gesture, assuring that the items would be properly utilized. Community leaders and beneficiaries also expressed appreciation, describing the support as timely amid rising farming costs.

The initiative underscores a broader question: can sustained civil-military partnerships translate into both improved security and food production in vulnerable communities? For residents of Daudu, the immediate focus remains a productive farming season.
