Ever heard of the Pink Shaddock (Pomelo)?
It’s a large, sweet–tart citrus fruit that grows beautifully in Nigeria when planted right. Farmers love it for its juicy taste, health benefits, and good market value.
✔️ Best planting season: Start of the rainy season (March–May in the south, May–June in the north).
✔️ Soil needs: Sunny, well-drained sandy loam with pH 5.5–6.5.
✔️ Propagation:
– Seeds (fruit in 5–7 yrs)
– Grafted seedlings (fruit in 3–4 yrs, great for commercial farmers).
✔️ Watering: Twice a week for young trees, every 10–14 days for mature ones in the dry season.
✔️ Harvest: Fruits mature 7–8 months after flowering.
